After Tony Leung’s Lifetime Achievement trophy in Venice, it’s Andy Lau’s turn to be honoured with his own international trophy.

The Hong Kong superstar recently expressed elation over being given the TIFF Special Tribute Award at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Attending the event on 16 September, the actor expressed, “This special contribution award means a lot to me. It means that everyone has the possibility to do more than you imagine. So, choose your own path, work hard and do your best. I will never forget the love you gave me, thank you!”

He also promoted his new movie, “The Movie Emperor” at the event, where he stayed for three days before returning to Hong Kong to resume work.

“The Movie Emperor”, which has been released since 14 September, stars Andy as Lau Wai Chi (a play on his, Tony Leung and Stephen Chow’s Chinese names), a has-been Hong Kong star who makes a movie comeback to regain his popularity.
