South Korea’s oldest television presenter Song Hae has passed away.

As reported on Joongang Daily, the veteran host was found lifeless by one of his daughters in his home on 8 June, having been in poor health for the past few months.

It is noted that Song, who had been hosting “Korea Sings” since the late 1980s, took a break from hosting the show in March due to COVID-19, before it was revealed that he had stepped down in May.

Back in April, he was named the oldest TV music talent show host by the Guinness World Records.

Born Song Bok-Hee, Song Hae made his debut in 1955 with the Changgong Music Troupe, and became well-known for being the fixed host of “Korea Sings” since 1988. He was also a veteran of the Korean War.

He was 95.
