Naniwa Danshi’s member Shunsuke Michieda has been cast to be the next Kindaichi.

As reported on Mingpao, the 19-year-old idol is set to play the titular role in the upcoming “The Kindaichi Case Files” instalment, making him the fifth star to play the role of the said detective.

Interestingly, Shunsuke is also the fifth Johnny & Associates’ artiste to portray Kindaichi, following KinKi Kids’ Tsuyoshi Domoto, Arashi’s Jun Matsumoto, KAT-TUN’s Kazuya Kamenashi and Hey! Say! JUMP’s Ryosuke Yamada.

The latter played the role circa 2013 to 2014.

The upcoming TV series will commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Kindaichi manga, which was first released in Weekly Shonen Magazine in October 1992.

It will begin filming in April this year under NTV.
