China-Sabah Short Film Competition is back for its third edition and as usual, it is open to Sabahans and permanent residents of Sabah of all ages and nationalities.

What makes this year’s edition more interesting is the fact that the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kota Kinabalu has doubled the cash prizes, according to Daily Express.

The top three award winners will receive the following cash prizes: RM10,000 (Gold Award), RM8,000 (Silver Award) and RM5,000 (Bronze Award).

Furthermore, the Best Editing Award and Most Creative Film Award will each receive RM2,000.

10 consolation prizes will also be given out, with a cash prize of RM600 each.

As stated on the short film competition’s official website, this year’s edition calls for “filmmakers to capture the moving stories on the cooperation and enduring friendship between China and Sabah, including but not limited to the joint effort in battling against Covid-19.”

Submissions to the competition is now open, until this 31 October.

Participating filmmakers can submit more than one film. However, each film must be submitted with a separate entry form, which can be downloaded at http://kotakinabalu.china-consulate.org/eng
