Good news for hot air balloon enthusiasts! If you’ve been looking forward to a fun time at MyBalloonFiesta 2020, otherwise known as Putrajaya International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, you don’t have to worry about making any changes to your plans because it will still be held as scheduled this March.

While many others have had to cancel or reschedule their events due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the hot air balloon fiesta has decided to forge ahead.

Of course, the organising team will take precautions, such as preparing hand sanitizers at key points, to ensure the cleanliness and hygiene of the facilities during the fiesta.
Returning for its 11th year from 19 to 22 March (7am to 9pm daily) at Monumen Alaf Baru, Putrajaya, this year’s fiesta coincides with Putrajaya’s Silver Jubilee celebration.
“It is always a breathtaking sight, seeing these hot air balloons being inflated, complementing Putrajaya’s architecture and landscape,” said YB Tuan Haji Khalid Abd Samad, Minister of Federal Territories, said at the launch of the fiesta recently.
To celebrate this, a total of 25 normal and special-shaped balloons from all over the world will be part of the fiesta.
The seven special-shaped balloons to look out for are Minion (UK), Little Pirate (US), BigHug (Brazil), My Deerling (Canada), Blue Rooster (France), Light House (UK) and Owlbert (US).

Other countries participating in this year’s fiesta include Malaysia (of course), Spain, Japan, Belgium, Thailand, South Korea, Italy, Taiwan and Vietnam.
Among the activities to look forward to are Mass Ascension from 7am to 8am daily, Night Glow Show (where the balloons will appear like huge lanterns, dancing in sync to the beat of music) followed by a spectacular fireworks display that will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 8.45pm to 9.30pm.
Entrance to the fiesta is free.
However, if you want to get up close to the balloons, you can purchase Balloon Zone entrance tickets to obtain Launching Field and Night Glow Show access at https://www.myballoonfiesta.com/thetickets.
