Despite previously denying allegations of affairs with US tycoon Ye Yanwei, rumours continue to swirl that Zheng Shuang is now pregnant with the tycoon’s baby.

This was further fuelled by an admission by a man who is allegedly Ye’s son, who after being asked about the rumour, said that his father has lots of mistresses including the actress, and that she is now pregnant with his baby.

Meanwhile, some netizens alleged that they had seen Zheng Shuang in the US with a baby bump.

It is noted that Zheng Shuang has already dismissed the rumour back in February, saying that it was baseless and malicious.

“[She] has always upheld her integrity and strict life principles. We solemnly deny and refute such rumours. This false information has seriously damaged [her] reputation and misled the public,” her camp responded.

Following the latest rumour, the actress took to Weibo yet again on 12 March, writing a long post and saying, “In order to avoid occupying public resources, no excessive response will be made. But we must solemnly warn everyone: if you want to know the facts, the real information released by “her” is the only credible basis!”

“Please keep your eyes open and firmly follow the information released by “her” herself. Don’t be led by these rumours and become a mouthpiece for false information!” she added.

The post also came with two photos of Zheng, albeit heavily filtered and not showing her full figure.

However, the response did not bring satisfaction to netizens, with many saying it was just a jumble of words that do not make sense.

One posted, “If you want to refute a rumour, just refute it properly. If you want to post a photo, just post it properly. Don’t say a bunch of useless things and don’t use a lot of beauty filters.”

Zheng Shuang seemed to have addressed rumours of her debts on social media, saying that she has already paid all of her taxes and fines in full.

The 33-year-old actress, who is currently residing in the US, made the news again recently, after some news outlets rehashed the old story about her 2021 tax evasion scandal.

It was said that Zheng had to pay back taxes, late fees and fines amounting to RMB 299 million, as well as other damages to her TV and movie projects caused by her surrogacy scandal. Some creditors reportedly had even travelled to the US to pursue her debts, but was unable to meet with the actress.

However, on 23 March, a Weibo account called Xiao Zhengzhi Affairs ZS responded to the allegations, saying that some people with ulterior motives have been rehashing old news to mislead the public’s understanding of her.

“First, since the tax incident occurred, “she” immediately made a clear statement that she respected the tax department’s penalty decision. Subsequently, she quickly raised funds in accordance with the law and paid all taxes, fines and late payment fees on time and in full, fully demonstrating her awe of laws and regulations and her correct attitude of active cooperation,” the statement read.

“Second, “she” has always respected the court’s ruling and actively fulfilled the corresponding legal obligations. Relevant staff are continuing to actively communicate with the film company and make every effort to negotiate the repayment of the effective debts. However, during this period, many rumours have been unreasonably bred on the Internet. These rumours have no factual basis and are purely malicious slander.”

“Third, “she” has now returned to a peaceful life and stays away from the Internet. All along, “she” insisted on defending her rights, just to tear off the false masks of some individuals and expose their lies. Here, we urge all netizens to maintain rationality and judgment, to not believe such rumours, and be wary of any sinister intentions behind any remarks that attempt to mislead the public and damage “her” reputation. We implore everyone to stop making groundless speculations, thank you,” the statement concluded.

Chinese actress Zheng Shuang has once again found herself at the centre of tabloid controversy after rumours emerged claiming she is dating a married tycoon in an attempt to secure a US green card.

According to reports from Epoch Times, Zheng, who was previously banned from the Chinese entertainment industry following multiple scandals including surrogacy, child abandonment, and tax evasion, has been accused of becoming involved with millionaire Ye Yanwei. The allegations surfaced after she was reportedly spotted having dinner with a man who resembled the tycoon.

In response to these claims, Zheng’s studio issued a firm statement denying the rumours: “All the rumours are unfounded. We would like to remind those who wantonly spread rumours that the more comfortable you are with your evil deeds, the quicker the retribution will come.”

The actress herself took additional steps to address the situation by recording a video in which she emotionally denied the accusations. “I am innocent. I am self-reliant. I will not be a mistress for others. This is my principle in life,” Zheng stated in the video.

She reportedly became emotional during the recording, questioning who she had offended to deserve such malicious rumours and calling for an end to what she described as a smear campaign against her.

This is not the first time Zheng has faced public scrutiny. In 2021, her former boyfriend Zhang Heng accused her of abandoning their two children conceived through surrogacy in the United States – a practice that is illegal in China.

During the same period, Zhang also revealed that Zheng had committed tax evasion. These scandals resulted in her immediate ostracism from the Chinese entertainment industry, forcing her to relocate to the US to make a living and pay off her accumulated debts.

Zheng Shuang recently attracted attention of fans when she made a rare appearance on social media on her birthday.

The actress, who has been “stranded” in the United States following her surrogacy and tax evasion scandal in 2021, recently took to Weibo on her 33rd birthday and posted, “Time is silent and short, and the years are silent and peaceful. Happy birthday.”

She also attached a selfie with the post, which sparked netizens’ attention who couldn’t help but notice her tearful eyes.

One netizen posted, “Are you crying? Please don’t cry.”

Another wrote, “Live a good life and ignore those unpleasant comments. I hope you’ll be happy in your future life.”

It is noted that the actress, who was named one of the “Four Little Flowers of the post-90s” along with Zhou Dongyu, Guan Xiaotong and Yang Zi, fell from grace after her ex-manager and former boyfriend Zhang Heng broke the news that she abandoned her two children that they had via surrogacy after their breakup.

While the surrogacy scandal was ongoing, she was then exposed for a tax evasion scandal and was fined nearly RMB 300 million by the Shanghai Taxation Bureau.

Zheng Shuang’s camp has recently dismissed allegations of child abuse made by the actress’ former boyfriend Zhang Heng against her.

Zhang Heng recently went on an interview with Colorado’s media, repeating the same story that he shared last year and stating that their two children were abused by the actress, who shares custody with him.

“The past six months both of my children got injured really bad when they stayed with my ex-girlfriend,” he said, showing photos of stitches on his daughter’s finger and a wound under his son’s nose.

“My son was so struggling ‘No, don’t go dad. Let’s go home. I’m afraid. I’m afraid of mom’ and crying. That is why I called child protective services because he told me mama did it,” Zhang Heng said.

Zhang Heng stated that he decided to go to the media and let the people in Colorado know about it because child protective services let him down.

Following the interview, Zheng Shuang’s lawyer released a statement which read, “Shuang Zheng unequivocally denies she has ever abused or neglected her children. At this time, there are no criminal, dependency and neglect, or Child Protective Services cases that have been filed.”

“The only “investigation” of which we are aware is a residential visit our client received on Jan. 4, 2023 that lasted approximately five minutes. During that visit, police found the children to be happy and healthy and when asked if further investigation was necessary, the police declined.”

They stated that the court ordered in March 2022 for an increase of parenting time for Zheng Shuang, including awarding her overnight parenting time every week.

“In June 2022, the Court ordered that the father may not relocate to China with the children. Father’s false allegations of abuse began following his Court losses. When his case became unsuccessful in Court, the father apparently turned to trying his case in the Court of public opinion,” the statement added.

Zhang Heng previously broke the story that the two had two children, Lucas and Luna, via surrogacy in the US prior to their breakup in 2019, and that the actress abandoned them following the end of their relationship. Following the expose, Zheng Shuang immediately lost all filming works and sponsorships.

Her camp also clarified that she was working on getting custody before Zhang decided to turn to the media.

China is set to impose stricter regulations when it comes to taxes involving the entertainment industry to further deter more tax evasion crimes that have been pervading the industry.

As reported on Mingpao, the State Taxation Administration (STA) recently issued a “Tax Inspection Order”, requesting for further strengthening of the tax management of employees in showbiz, which include measures like regular tax inspections, proactive reporting before the end of year, and timely correction of tax-related issues, which can be mitigated or exempted in accordance with the law.

Celebrities and social media influencers will also be required to set up tax accounts for their studios or businesses in accordance to the law, and have their taxes being audited and verified by authorities.

At the same time, the STA also stressed that celebrities are not the only ones who will be observed strictly on the matters of taxes, but tax authorities as well, adding that any tax officers who play favourites and commit fraud will be punished as well.

It is noted that the tax evasion scandal caught the attention of the Chinese authorities back in 2018, after actress Fan Bingbing was revealed to have been involved in the practice of the yin yang contract, in which celebrities signed two different contracts – one to be reported to authorities, and a much higher one being paid in secret.

After losing custody of her children and having her ex-partner Zhang Heng making things worse for her career, it was revealed that Chinese actress Zheng Shuang is now facing an enormous fine for tax evasion.

As reported on Epoch Times, the actress, who was accused of signing yin and yang contracts – the term first made famous in 2018 when Fan Bingbing was punished for doing so – was ordered by the Shanghai Municipal Tax Service to pay fines for tax evasion of nearly 220 million yuan, and taxes of 72 million yuan.

It is noted that Zheng is also facing several lawsuits for her previous scandal, seeing that she has breached several contracts and caused losses to brands and producers alike when she was banned from appearing on television due to her surrogacy issue.

At the same time, her television dramas have also been removed from major video platforms, including her upcoming “A Chinese Ghost Story”, that has been banned from airing by the National Radio and Television Administration (NRTA).

Zheng has not made any comments about the fine yet at the time of writing.

The actress’ downfall sparked earlier this year, when it was revealed by her ex that she has abandoned her two children born through surrogacy in the US. It is noted that surrogacy is illegal in China. She was immediately dropped from various international and local brands, and later lost her custody battle against Zhang.

Zheng Shuang recently admitted that she is struggling to make ends meet in the United States, ever since she arrived for the previous custody battle that ended in May.

As reported on HK01, in a now-deleted Weibo post, Zheng broke her silence about the previous issue, apologising for her decision to go to the US to get surrogacies for her two children despite knowing that it is illegal in China, and causing many problems to everybody involved.

Zheng, who is now banned from appearing on television in China, admitted that she has been struggling since arriving in the US; having lost her income, her many endorsement deals and facing legal ramifications from having her many contracts terminated due to her scandal.

“I am even unable to pay the damages to the dramas, [“A Chinese Ghost Story” and “Secret Keepers”] for the losses they incurred,” she added.

As for her life in the US, the actress admitted that she only drinks tap water every day to survive, owning only two pairs of jeans and five t-shirts, and relying on her friends for support.

“I even have to watch how much toilet paper I am using. I use the remaining amount of the money I have to buy cherries and toys for my kids,” she wrote, adding that she has no way of working in the US and therefore has no income.

The actress stressed that she loves her children over everything else and will put all her energy into her children and the parenting classes from now on.

It is noted that Zheng lost her custody case back in May against former boyfriend Zhang Heng, who was given the right to take care of their two children.

The issue between the two sparked early this year after Zhang exposed the fact that the two of them are already parents to two children born through surrogacy, but that Zheng has decided to abandon them. Lucas was born in December 2019, and Luna was born in January 2020. It was later alleged that Zheng left her partner after finding out that he was cheating on her just before the babies were born.

Several days after it was revealed that Zheng Shuang received USD 24.6 million for one TV show, it was reported that the actress is now under investigation for tax fraud.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the issue sparked earlier this week, when her former partner Zhang Heng shared screen-shots of alleged text conversations between him, Zheng and her parents in which they discussed the actress’ payment for the drama series, “A Chinese Ghost Story”.

In it, it was revealed that the 29 year-old actress received a salary of the aforementioned amount after spending 77 days on the set – meaning that she received USD 320,000 per day.

However, Zhang stated that Zheng received two different contracts, one which stated that she would receive a smaller amount of fee, while the other stipulated that a higher amount will be applied to the company belonging to the actress’ mother.

This agreement – called a yin yang contract – is similar to what Fan Bingbing previously had and which she was slapped with a hefty fine in 2018 after being found guilty for tax evasion.

On 29 April, Zheng released a statement on her agency’s social media, saying that the tax bureau is already investigating her contracts, taxes, and financial activities – adding that she will be cooperating with the authorities.

On the other hand, the custody trial between Zheng Shuang and Zhang Heng continues in the United States, months after the latter destroyed the actress’ career by alleging that she had abandoned their then-unborn children – conceived through surrogacy – after the two ended their relationship.

Zhang Heng has denied threatening former partner and actress Zheng Shuang in the past, after being accused to have done so by the latter’s legal counsel during the latest custody hearing, Sinchew reported.

Zhang, who was questioned during the second hearing on 6 April, dismissed the notion that his more than a hundred messages of wanting to kill Zheng and telling her to shut up was anything abusive, stating that it was an inside joke between them.

“There were hundreds of “I’ll kill you” in the chat records between us and both parties said it. It was a joke between friends. I had never threatened her, but her family did threaten mine,” he said.

Zhang also stated that he once asked one of the surrogates to record all interactions with Zheng Shuang, but that she refused with the excuse of not wanting to be involved. When lawyers asked if he had planned for those videos to be used in court, Zhang stated that he was worried that Zheng would buy the surrogates off due to the fact that she has a lot of money.

“I thought that if the surrogates were bought off, I could use this as evidence,” he added.

As for the previous voice recordings of Zheng Shuang and her family discussing about the children that were released to the public, Zhang denied knowing the culprit who did it, and added that he didn’t know that the matter had negatively impacted Zheng’s career.

When asked by the judge if he would be willing to allow the actress to spend more time with their children in the future, Zhang stated that what they need is a good mother and not one who had wanted to abandon them in the past.

“If she can change and treat the children well, I will let them spend more time with her. But I didn’t see her loving them that much nor did they feel the same about her. The second time they met, Lucas cried for 40 minutes,” he said.

The trial will reconvene in two weeks’ time.

Zheng Shuang has been in Denver since last month to fight for custody of her two kids Lucas and Luna. Zheng made headlines last January when ex-partner Zhang Heng accused her of abandoning their two children born through surrogacy. This has resulted in her losing various endorsements and filming projects.
