Zhang Yuqi’s attempt to make her comeback following her surrogacy scandal seemed to have backfired, after a throng of netizens expressed dissatisfaction with her decision.

The actress, who was previously accused of hiring a surrogate mother, returned to livestream on the eve of International Women’s Day via Douyin, two months after she was accused of such, to promote affordable makeup products and interact with fans.

However, many netizens decided to question her about the surrogacy controversy instead during the livestream, demanding that she show her child’s birth certificate and prenatal checkup records. Others expressed their ire that Zhang has decided to make her comeback just before International Women’s Day.

They stated that surrogacy is essentially the exploitation of women’s bodies, and that as a public figure, her actions of celebrating Women’s Day and profiting without addressing the surrogacy allegations are repulsive.

The usually outspoken actress, on the other hand, remained silent and focused only on selling the products.

The whole surrogacy issue sparked back in January, when Ge Xiaoqian, the former girlfriend of Zhang’s ex-husband Yuan Bayuan, alleged that the actress was the third party in her marriage. She also questioned whether Zhang had illegally hired a surrogate mother, claiming that her twins born in 2017 were actually “one biological child and one surrogate child,” with the children’s birth dates nearly three months apart from one another.

Zhang never did respond to the allegations, and did not update her Weibo account since 12 January. During this period, it was also reported that she lost several TV projects and endorsement contracts.

One need not wait for Ge Xiaoqian to respond to Zhang Yuqi (aka Kitty Zhang) camp’s clarification about her cheating allegation, as she has now posted a long message on Weibo to question the actress’ defence.

On 12 September, not a few hours after Kitty’s rep shared a screenshot of a text message with entrepreneur Yuan Bayuan, who denied that his ex-wife Kitty was a third party to his relationship with Ge prior to their marriage, Ge took to the platform and claimed that the actress’ team is making up stories again.

“This agreement was signed by him between September 1 and September 7, 2016 (to be precise, it should be September 4). The colours and handwriting of the two pens are different. He wrote the signing date at the end of the contract as April, thinking that he and I broke up in April. I happened to be on a business trip abroad from September 1 to September 7. When I returned home, I found that he had signed this new document without informing me,” she shared.

Ge continued, “Specific evidence includes: He personally admitted that the contract was signed in September. In order to deny that his and my timelines overlap, he was able to do such a disgusting thing.”

She also stressed that she has evidence in a form of videos, including the CCTV of her being at their home, records of her taking a taxi from their home to the airport on the morning of 1 September, and the fact that Yuan, his family and Ge herself went on a vacation at the Zhejiang Hot Spring at the end of August.

“If I had broken up with him a long time ago, and I was the tenant of the house, why did the man still live in it? Why didn’t he move to the Jinan Road Serviced Apartment?” she asked.

As to Yuan denying that he was married prior to his marriage to Kitty, Ge said that the two of them agreed not to get married while they were together as he was in debt and that not being his wife meant that she will still be debt-free even if he goes bankrupt.

“So this is why he has been denying his relationship with me, but there are photos of me and him living together for so many years on the Internet. I was also at his company’s annual meeting in 2016. The other party’s testimony was all to stagger the timeline,” she added.

Zhang Yuqi’s (aka Kitty Zhang) camp has recently denied the allegations made by anchorwoman Ge Xiaoqian that the actress was actually the third party between her and Yuan Bayuan in the past.

It was earlier this week that Ge responded to a viral clip of Kitty telling the story of “someone” she knew who was cheated by a younger man that many claimed to be her own story.

The clip enraged Ge, who alleged that Kitty was being a hypocrite by accusing another of cheating when she reportedly “stole” entrepreneur Yuan Bayuan from Ge herself before marrying him.

“The thief cries “Catch the thief!”, cheating yourself is feminism, but cheating by others is not okay, birds of a feather flock together. Two cheaters are a perfect match,” she expressed on Weibo.

It is noted that Kitty and Yuan are now divorced.

Following Ge’s accusation, Kitty’s camp posted a screenshot of a text conversation with Yuan, where the entrepreneur said that he had signed a breakup agreement with Ge a few months before he met Kitty. They also claimed that Yuan was never married to anyone prior to his marriage with Kitty.

Rumour has it that Yuan Bayuan’s ex-wife and anchorwoman Ge Xiaoqian was talking about Zhang Yuqi (aka Kitty Zhang) in a recent Weibo post ranting about a certain someone.

The whole speculation sparked recently, after Kitty went on a talk show called “I Have a Friend” and told the story of “a friend” who has a younger man who cheated on her.

However, many netizens quickly speculated that she was talking about herself, and that the man in question was actor Yu Shi, whom she was romantically linked to in 2022 prior to his fame.

As clips from the said show went viral, Ge, who was married to Yuan Bayuan prior to Kitty’s own marriage to him, took to social media and wrote, “You do disgusting things like interfering in other people’s relationships and cheating, and then buy hot searches to judge others morally?… This weasel broke into other people’s houses illegally, stole my garbage and was still proud of it, and spent a lot of money every year to hire a PR team to guide public opinion.”

Ge seemed to be referring to the rumours that Kitty took the advantage of “stealing” Yuan while she was away back in 2016 and marry him the same year. Kitty and Yuan are now divorced.

Fans were horrified as Kitty Zhang (Zhang Yuqi) revealed the injury to her toenail she sustained due to the wrong shoe choice.

The whole issue sparked after a photo of her reading a script while sitting on a wheelchair with a bandaged foot circulated online, causing fans to worry about her health.

On 8 July, the actress explained the situation by posting several photos on Weibo of her injured right toe, which had the nail dislodged from her toe.

“Actually, it’s nothing. I just pulled out a nail. Don’t worry, friends!” she posted.

However, at the same time, Kitty reminded fans to be careful when wearing open-toed shoes in summer.

It was reported that Kitty fell down while wearing the heels, causing her entire toenail to be dislodged. The bleeding had the actress rushed to the hospital to get it removed and bandaged.
