Zhai Xiaowen recently found himself having to address his latest drama project, which will see him pairing up with singer-actress Wu Xuanyi for the third time.

Following news that the two of them will collaborate again in the new drama, “My Drama Missy”, fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with many saying that they don’t want to see the two stars working together again as it would make him stuck with the same pairing in the future.

They were also unhappy that Zhai is acting in a female-centric drama, making him the love interest instead of the lead character.

In response to the criticisms, on 18 July, the former R1SE member posted on Weibo, “Regarding the recent events over the past couple of days, I just want to say that an actor’s greatest confidence comes from their work. I know I may still have some distance to go before becoming an actor that everyone fully recognises, but for now, I want to seize every opportunity to create more roles and meaningful projects.”

Zhai said that he has read all the feedbacks from fans and thank those who chose to support him wholeheartedly.

“I hope we’ll always share positive energy that pushes each other forward. Wishing you happiness every day,” he added.

Prior to the new drama, Zhai and Wu have worked together on “Love in Pavilion” (2025) and “Sweet Teeth” (2021).

Yuehua Entertainment has recently dismissed the notion that one of their two stars Cheng Xiao and Wu Xuanyi might be the person accused of acting like a big shot by netizens recently.

As reported on Seehua, a netizen recently took to social media alleging that a Chinese female star was acting like a diva by asking people inside a lift at an airport to get out so that she can use it.

The netizen stated that she was taking the lift at an airport to the fourth floor, but that when the door was opened on the first floor, she saw many people surrounding a woman with their phones and cameras out to take pictures.

The said female star was also trying to get into the lift, but that her bodyguard asked everybody inside to get out first so that the celebrity can get in.

The netizen said that the people who were already inside the lift were unhappy with this, with some asking who the celebrity is and why is she so important. This has sparked speculations among many people, with some pointing fingers at either WJSN’s Cheng Xiao or her group mate, Wu Xuanyi.

In response to the allegations, on 12 June, Yuehua Entertainment released a statement denying the claim, saying, “After multiple confirmations, we have determined that the news was false speculation and the bodyguards were not members of the artistes’ team. It was false information and we hope that the outside world would correct it.”
