Tony Leung Kar Fai recently admitted that he did not expect at all to win Best Actor at the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Guild Annual Dinner and Awards Ceremony.

The actor, who rushed to the dinner event after flying in from Beijing, said that he was only there to show support, and was pleasantly surprised to be announced Best Actor for his role in “The Shadow’s Edge”.

“It was great to see old and new friends and colleagues from the film industry. Everyone was gathered together, and it gave me hope for Hong Kong cinema,” he said.

When asked if he wanted to pass on the torch to the next generation of actors, he said that since the golden age of Hong Kong cinema, he had talked for many years about a talent gap in the film industry. Now, seeing the new generation of filmmakers working hard and performing very well, he believes he can help them continue their cinematic dreams.

When asked if he was confident of winning another award at the Hong Kong Film Awards next month, Tony said, “After tonight, that’s it. As an actor, you don’t need to think too much. Just do your best in the next role. You can’t control other things.”

“I didn’t think about winning an award because I didn’t feel like I was the lead in the film. Everyone nominated me, and I won. It’s a double win,” he said.

Tony Leung Kar Fai recently admitted that he really enjoyed reuniting with Jackie Chan again 20 years after filming “The Myth” together.

The actor, who attended the Macau premiere of “The Shadow’s Edge”, stated that he was honoured to receive Jackie’s praise for his action performance in the film and returned the compliment for Jackie’s own progress in terms of dramas.

“We haven’t worked together for 20 years. Jackie is a very secretive person in private, and he doesn’t open up to those around him. This time, we have a brand-new Jackie Chan because he is very open and has a good way of teaching all newcomers,” he said.

“I am considered a newcomer in front of him, and he really teaches by example, which is rare in the film industry because everyone is very selfish and only does their own thing, especially Hong Kong actors. So, I am very grateful to him. I am lucky to have this big brother and mentor on my acting career path, which enables me to improve and move towards tomorrow.”

As to whether there will be a sequel to the movie, Tony said that he would be open to it as long as Jackie is a part of it.

It looks like Tony Leung Kar Fai is going to become a grandfather again, this time by way of his youngest daughter.

On 20 November, Tony’s daughter Nikkie announced the good news of her pregnancy on social media with a collage of photos of her and husband Tyler Toscani surrounding an ultrasound photo that has the year 2025 on it.

“Mommy and Daddy can’t wait to meet you!!” she posted.

Husband Tyler wrote, “So excited for this next chapter together. [Nikkie] you will be an amazing Mommy, and we can’t wait to show you the world little one.”

It was back in September that Tony and wife Jiang Jia Nian officially became grandparents when daughter Chloe announced the birth of her first child.

Tony Leung Kar Fai is now officially a grandpa with the birth of his first granddaughter.

The news was shared by daughter Chloe, who posted a photo on social media of her newborn baby girl’s tiny legs a couple of weeks after she gave birth, and wrote, “Happy 2 weeks old our little princess Skye.”

“It’s been a crazy and exhausting two weeks & we’re still trying to figure it out. But we love you so much. You are soooooo loved. You are perfect,” she added.

Chloe is Tony’s first daughter with wife Jiang Jia Nian. The actor shared news about his daughter’s pregnancy during an interview with China News in June this year, before Chloe finally revealed her first baby bump photo.

Meanwhile, Tony’s daughter Nikkie has also announced her marriage with her boyfriend earlier this year.

It looks like Tony Leung Kar Fai and wife Jiang Jianian are becoming grandparents.

On 6 August, the actor’s eldest daughter Chloe took to social media to share a photo of herself looking heavily pregnant.

She posted, “Surprise! Coming soon. Can you guess if it’s a girl or boy?” and added the hashtag “readytopop”.

It was in June that Tony hinted that he and his wife were about to welcome a new addition to the family.

Chloe tied the knot with husband Matthew Chan in June last year after eight years of relationship.

Tony Leung Kar Fai has recently welcomed his first son-in-law.

The Hong Kong actor was recently absent from the Shanghai International Film Festival, where his co-stars Kara Hui, Ni Dahong and Cecilia Yip were seen at the premiere of the new movie, “Love Never Ends”.

When asked about his absence at the 10 June event, Cecilia stated, “The reason why my ‘wife’ Tony is absent today is because today is his eldest daughter’s wedding.”

Several photos had since been shared from the wedding, including one of Tony wearing a striped suit, standing next to his daughter Chloe and her new husband.

It is noted that Tony, who married Jiang Jianian, has a pair of twin daughters, Chloe and Nikkie. Though the two inherited their parents’ good looks, they are not interested in a showbiz career.

Chloe was also revealed to have been dating her now husband for eight years before finally tying the knot.
