The Walt Disney Company has revealed that “D23 Asia: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” will take place in Singapore for the first time in 2027, marking a major milestone in the expansion of Disney’s global fan celebrations across the Asia Pacific region.

This event will mark the first D23 Asia being hosted in Singapore, a one-of-a-kind celebration offering consumers exclusive, first access to the latest in Disney storytelling, creativity, and innovation. The event will convene Disney fans from across Asia Pacific and beyond, alongside top stars and storytellers from Hollywood and around the world, uniting global communities through shared fandom, some beloved characters, and immersive experiences.

“D23 Asia: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” is a global expansion of the ultimate fan experience launched in 2009 by D23: The Official Disney Fan Club. The name “D23” carries a special meaning, with the “D” standing for Disney and “23” referencing the year Walt Disney opened his first studio in Hollywood in 1923.

“Bringing D23 to Singapore reflects the incredible passion of Disney fans across Asia Pacific and our desire to meet them where they are,” said Asad Ayaz, Chief Marketing and Brand Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “D23 Asia will bring these fans together as a community to celebrate the powerful connection they have with our stories, characters, and experiences, and to get an exciting look at what lies ahead.”

D23 Asia builds on the legacy of ultimate Disney fan events in Anaheim, California, and is part of D23’s continued global expansion to bring fan events to destinations around the world including the recent “D23 Brazil – A Disney Experience”. D23 Asia in Singapore aspires to deliver a reimagined experience created specifically for Asia – while staying true to the scale, creativity, and fan-first spirit that define D23 events worldwide.

The 25th Asian Television Awards will now be held in Singapore instead of Phnom Penh, Cambodia as was previously scheduled.

Fans who already have tickets to the festival are advised to hold on to them. One Love Asia Festival will debut in Singapore before heading to Osaka next!

Here’s the seatmap for One Love Asia Festival Singapore 2021.

The 2021 festival will see a slight change to its lineup. The previously announced Stefanie Sun, Jolin Tsai, BoA, Joker Xue, Tanya Chua, EggPlantEgg, ShiGGa Shay, and THELIONCITYBOY will now be joined by Fish Leong, Power Station, Namewee and Boon Hui Lu.

More names will be revealed soon to replace 7 acts from the previous lineup – Goo Goo Dolls, Hebe Tien, Greyson Chance, Show Lo, Naoto Inti Raymi, Potato, KLEAR – who will no longer be performing at the festival.

Other than more than 15 hours of live music to enjoy during the two days, there will also be a brand-new Curated Village that will feature an enticing range of food as well as thrilling lifestyle and partner activations. Further details will be released via the festival’s social media channels in the days leading up to the event.

When the large-scale music festival was first announced, it was scheduled to be held last May. It was later postponed to this November due to COVID-19 concerns. However, as the pandemic shows no signs of slowing down, the festival has to be further delayed to the new 2021 dates.

Produced by 24OWLS, the team behind five editions of Laneway Festival
Singapore and last year’s inaugural The Alex Blake Charlie Sessions, “Flock at
the Nest” was originally planned as an ongoing series of keenly curated gigs,
with relaxed audiences enjoying bespoke cocktails as they discover fresh
sounds.

Musicians performing at The Nest (a newly-created 520 sqm hole-in-the-wall
within the Pasir Panjang Power Station A which comfortably accommodates 85
seats) can also pick up tips from the producers and the production team on how
to refine their live sets and improve their presentation.

However, due to current restrictions on live performances, the first show will
now be rolled out as a 60-minute digital concert, featuring Benjamin Kheng,
lewloh and Marian Carmel.

“It felt really nice to be in a space with such natural reverb. It’s just cool
to bring music into unconventional spaces,” says Benjamin in a statement. “The
more unconventional, the better I’d say. I can imagine so many more things
happening here, like performance arts pieces. It’s such an open space. To
perform in such a breathable area felt really nice.”

As for Marian, she states, “I missed performing so much, I teared up just
being able to make music with my friends again. The space is so nice too – I
can only imagine what it must be like to actually hold shows here. What an
honour to be playing alongside artists whom I admire.”

lewloh, meanwhile, says, “I’ve never played at a power station before. I
appreciate the work by the 24OWLS team to turn it into such a creative and
friendly space.”

For the digital concert, the artists were supported by a rotating cast of
musicians: Evan Low (sampling pad), Joshua Lee (backing vocals), Lisa Haryono
(backing vocals and keyboard), and Vishaal Raj (backing vocals and guitar).
