Nancy Sit has a big plan for her and her “Seven Princesses” sisters next year, as they celebrate their 60th anniversary.

As reported on Mingpao, the veteran actress, who starred in the 1967 movie alongside other stars of the time like Alice Fung and Sum Chi Wah, stated that she would like to go on a trip with her former co-stars in 2025.

“We started as child stars and everybody is still alive and well now. We have to cherish the moments,” she said.

Nancy said that she plans to meet up and share interesting childhood stories and the good old days with her co-stars.

“Let’s see if they can find time to travel to Shanghai or Sanya next year,” she enthused.

Asked how her co-stars are doing, Nancy said, “Connie [Chan] told me to rest because I kept flying around. Josephine [Siao] was very happy to adopt a puppy to keep her company. Wong Oi Ming is living a good life. Petrina [Fung] still enjoys acting and participates in a lot of performances, and Sum Chi Wah likes to travel. Everybody enjoys a beautiful life, which I also think is a joy.”

Nancy Sit recently admitted that she was shocked and saddened by news of actress Violet Lee Ying’s passing.

As reported on Mingpao, the 73-year-old veteran actress, who spoke to the media following her Metro Radio programme, stated that she couldn’t believe it the first time she heard the news and had to confirm it with many friends before finally accepting it.

“We were very familiar with each other and we have cooperated before. But we lost contact during the pandemic,” she said.

Nancy also said that the tragedy has made her realise that she is getting older and that she must be more careful.

“My children have reminded me not to hurry when I am taking a shower and not to lock the door when I am using the bathroom at home, so that someone could hear me if anything were to happen,” she said.

Violet Lee Ying was revealed to have passed away recently, several days after she told friends she had a fall. She was 70.

Michelle Wai couldn’t help but laugh after veteran actress Nancy Sit mistakenly congratulated her for her “pregnancy”.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who was interviewed by Nancy on a programme for Metro Radio, laughed and patted on her belly to prove that she was not pregnant upon receiving congratulatory wishes from Nancy, who had mistaken her for Shiga Lin.

It is noted that both stars share the same Chinese name – Wai Sze Nga and Lin Si Nga. While Shiga, who is married to Carlos Chan, announced her pregnancy earlier; it is noted that Michelle, who is also good friends with Carlos, did play his pregnant wife in a movie prior to that.

When asked about it, Michelle said that she was not affected at all by the mistake, since she was often mistaken for Shiga Lin.

“Dad’s friends often confused any news about me and her. They congratulated me on my marriage all the time. My father is not having a grandson. His daughter’s surname is Wai,” she said with a laugh.

As for Carlos and Shiga’s good news, Michelle said that she has already congratulated the actor as soon as the news came out.

Nancy Sit recently collaborated with Malaysian singer Sheila Amzah for an upcoming Lunar New Year song.

The Hong Kong veteran and the Malay songstress recently recorded the song “The Year of the Yo” for the Year of the Dragon, composed by singer-songwriter Jonathan Wang.

The song cleverly combines the elements of traditional New Year songs with the popular light dance music style. In addition to paying tribute to traditional New Year songs, it also adds rap verses from the two artistes, hoping to bring joy and blessings to the audience through the cheerful melody.

“The Year Of The Yo” showcases the multicultural characteristics of Malaysia, as the lyrics also cover Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay, English and Hokkien.

“I believe that after the release of this song, Hong Kong will also usher in the ‘Yeo Sheng’ craze in the New Year,” said Nancy.

The veteran singer also praised Sheila, saying that the Malaysian singer is not only talented in singing, but is also able to perform in many languages.

“I didn’t expect that she would also be able to sing in Cantonese very well like us Hong Kong natives,” she said.

As for Sheila, the singer said that she is not fluent in Cantonese, and that she had to practice hard for the sake of recording the song.

“It’s really difficult to sing in multiple languages. My tongue is almost tingling,” she said.

As for the opportunity for the two to collaborate, it originated from a movie project.

In June this year, when the producer’s representatives and Sheila went to Hong Kong to visit Nancy, the two agreed that they would collaborate on a song while waiting for the film to be developed.

Coincidentally, Nancy and Sheila have many things in common. They are both representatives of “strong women” in the entertainment industry, they balance family and career and debuted as child stars. After meeting, they quickly established a deep understanding and friendship.

Nancy Sit is happy to announce that she is now a grandmother.

On 31 May, the veteran actress posted a photo of her and her newborn grandchild at the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital, where her daughter-in-law Zoe has recently given birth to a baby boy.

She wrote, “Hello, everyone. Let me introduce my grandson Julian. He was born on May 26. He weighed 7 and a half pounds when he was born. I am very grateful for the smooth and healthy birth under this pandemic. My family and I are very happy and extremely happy.”

“Thanks to the media and friends for their blessings. Thank you again, and I wish you all good health,” she added.

Nancy also revealed that she is planning to reduce her work in the coming months to help with taking care of her grandson.

“I have already bought him a baby cot and a large number of baby products,” the actress enthused.

On the other hand, her son Jackson revealed that he and wife Zoe have yet to decide on their baby boy’s Chinese name.
