Japan’s Zepp Kuala Lumpur to open on former KL Pudu jail site

TheHIVE.Asia — Thu, 02 Dec 2021 09:27:28 +0000

Japan’s world-class concert venue and event hall network Zepp will be opening its doors in Kuala Lumpur in the second quarter of 2022.

In a statement released on 29 November, it was revealed that Zepp Kuala Lumpur will be a part of the Bukit Bintang City Centre (BBCC) development, making it the 11th event hall for the Zepp Hall Network – a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc.

The network already has nine other outlets around Japan and another one in Taiwan called Zepp New Taipei.

“Zepp has come a long way since 1998,” said Akira Uehara, President, Zepp Hall Network Inc. “What started off as a venue to help artistes in Japan, has now grown to a business that offers solutions for various industries and events, be it corporate conferences, car exhibitions or weddings.”

“Our international expansion is also another way to help event industries worldwide to offer a one-stop solution for any mid-sized event. We are extremely pleased to be launching Zepp Kuala Lumpur this year. This all-new event hall will act as a cultural exchange centre between Malaysia and Japan.”

The upcoming 6,500 sq metres hall will house eight VIP boxes with private lounges and seating areas. The 2,500-capacity event space also offers the same top-notch facilities including high quality pre-installed lighting and audio equipment.

Additionally, Zepp Kuala Lumpur’s hall also serves as a one-stop solution for corporate events, fashion shows, TV and advertising recordings, dinner events, eSports tournaments, as well as martial arts performances.

Built on the former Pudu jail site, Zepp Kuala Lumpur will be the anchor for BBCC’s entertainment hub.

“Tomorrowland Around the World” reveals full lineup

TheHIVE.Asia — Wed, 17 Jun 2020 01:19:00 +0000

It was announced earlier this month that Tomorrowland will be hosting its digital music festival “Tomorrowland Around the World” next month.

The festival will be held in lieu of the annual physical edition that has to be postponed this year due to the global pandemic.

The lineup has now been revealed, featuring more than 60 of the world’s best DJs! The full line-up per stage can be found on tomorrowland.com.

Here’s the full lineup for “Tomorrowland Around the World”.

Each of the eight stages will premiere brand new music and video content from the world’s best artists.

The Mainstage, which embodies the theme of 2020 ‘The Reflection of Love – Chapter 1’, will be graced by the biggest industry heavyweights as Afrojack, Alan Walker, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and Tiësto.

The Atmosphere stage will be headlined by the likes of techno legends Amelie Lens, Dixon, Joyhauser, Reinier Zonneveld, Stephan Bodzin and Tale of Us.

Several other house & techno music tastemakers including ANNA, Adam Beyer and Patrice Baumel will deliver the most mesmerising and atmospheric sounds at the mythical Core stage – a crowd favourite and definitely one of the most unique stages at Tomorrowland.

Tomorrowland’s iconic Freedom Stage will see Claptone, Jack Back and Solardo return, with hardstyle acts like Coone, Da Tweekaz and Wildstylez on the Q-Dance stage. Some of the world’s best artists in future bass, dubstep and trap music – Carnage, Eptic, Gryffin, Netsky, NGHTMRE, San Holo and Yellow Claw – will gather at one of the brand new stages.

Armin van Buuren said in a press statement, “Tomorrowland Around the World is a great opportunity for me to connect with my fans during these lockdown times and I hope that this will help everyone to hold on for a bit longer until we can party together on actual festival grounds again! Very delighted to be part of this ground-breaking event.”

And here’s what Steve Aoki has to say: “Tomorrowland is always a special festival for me so I’m very honoured to be a part of Tomorrowland’s digital festival that will be uniting so many people from around the world in a way that hasn’t been done before. The connection between amazing music, breath-taking 3D design and the latest filming techniques from Hollywood get me extremely excited!”

If two of the world’s biggest DJs are these excited, you know Tomorrowland’s first ever digital festival is going to be worth the €12.50 (Day ticket) and €20 (weekend ticket inclusive of a week of video-on-demand content to relive the entire experience) price tags.

As mentioned, this year’s physical festival, which would’ve marked Tomorrowland’s 16th edition, has been postponed to summer 2021 (16 – 18 July & 23 – 25 July).

Taking its place this summer will of course be “Tomorrowland Around the World”, which will be available from 15h00–01h00 CEST on 25 and 26 July 2020 exclusively on tomorrowland.com. Tickets will be available on the same website from this 18 June.

Music festival Tomorrowland is going digital this July!

TheHIVE.Asia — Tue, 09 Jun 2020 00:29:00 +0000

Have you always wanted to party the weekend away at Tomorrowland but felt burdened by the costs of travel and accommodation? Looks like this year might be your chance to attend it without these hassles.

Tomorrowland is all set to go digital this year with its first ever “Tomorrowland Around the World”!

The digital music festival is described as “a spectacular entertainment experience open to people of all ages and places, unfazed by borders or boundaries”.

Details on “Tomorrowland Around the World” are as below:

Dates: 25 and 26 July 2020

Time: 15h00–01h00 CEST

The festival, which will also have a ‘time-zone-friendly’ option for visitors from Asia and North or South America, will be available exclusively on tomorrowland.com for those two days.

Tickets can be purchased through the same website and will go on sale from this 18 June.

Prices for the tickets are as follows:

1. Day ticket: €12.50

2. Weekend ticket: €20 (includes a week of video-on-demand content to relive the entire experience)

Special People of Tomorrow packages and Home Party packages will also be available.

Eight different stages in total will be featured at the digital festival, brought together using the world’s best technology in 3D design, video production, gaming and special effects.

The stages comprise Atmosphere, Core, Freedom, Stage and Elixir, plus three new stages – each showcasing music from the world’s best artists in dance and electronic music, as well as a large portion of the fireworks and laser shows characteristic of Tomorrowland.

This year’s iconic Mainstage, which embodies the theme of 2020 ‘The Reflection of Love – Chapter 1’, will also be unveiled to the world during the digital festival.

Check out the trailer for “Tomorrowland Around the World” below!

Aside from the performances, visitors can also enjoy various interactive experiences, such as inspirational webinars, games and workshops related to lifestyle, food, fashion and the Tomorrowland Foundation.

“For us it’s a bit re-inventing the festival experience, but we truly believe that we can bring the spirit of Tomorrowland and entertainment at the highest level to people and homes around the globe,” said Michiel Beers, co-founder of Tomorrowland, in a press statement.

“We hope that hundreds of thousands of people will unite in a responsible way and that small Tomorrowland gatherings at people’s homes – from Canada to Australia, from Japan to Brazil and everywhere in between – will be organised. Especially during the weekend where normally Tomorrowland Belgium would take place, we really have the power to unite the world,” he added.

Tomorrowland has been held annually in Belgium since 2005 but its 16th edition, originally scheduled for next month, had to be postponed to summer 2021 (16 – 18 July & 23 – 25 July) due to the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.

Virtual music festival PlayOn Fest to be held this weekend

TheHIVE.Asia — Thu, 23 Apr 2020 00:23:00 +0000

With large gatherings in public places basically illegal now, organisers are going online for a solution to avoid having their events cancelled or postponed.

Looks like literally going online is the answer. One way to avoid cancellation or postponement is to simply hold the events online, like the upcoming virtual music festival PlayOn Fest.

The first ever PlayOn Fest, taglined “Music is NOT cancelled”, will be held this weekend over the course of three days. The photo above states 24 to 26 April but of course, for us on the Eastern side of the world, that’s 25 to 27 April (Saturday to Monday).

LL Cool J will kick off the three-day live streaming event, which will be streamed exclusively on Songkick’s YouTube channel, at 12pm (GMT +8) this Saturday.

Tons of popular singers will be performing at PlayOn Fest.

Performers for the mega music fest include Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, David Guetta, Bazzi, Bebe Rexha, Charlie Puth, Coldplay and more big names.

Apart from providing entertainment to music-lovers who are staying put at home, the event by Warner Music Group is also held to support the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organisation.

Check out the trailer for PlayOn Fest below!
