In celebration of “Back to the Past” accumulating over HKD 96 million in box office revenue in Hong Kong and Macau for the past two months, the team recently launched a two-day appreciation event to thank fans for their support.

Lead stars Louis Koo and Jessica Hsuan recently attended several of these screenings to express their gratitude to the audience for their continued support of the film. The atmosphere was lively, with the two exchanging witty remarks and displaying playful behaviour, filling the venue with joy and turning the thank-you screenings into fan club gatherings.

Jessica even acted as a fan photographer, taking videos of Louis’ fans and their idol. Among the fans were many children who came with their parents to see their idols. One child in particular stole the spotlight, dressed as the Little King of Qin, which caught the eye of Louis, who has always loved children.

Expressing their gratitude for the support, Jessica said, “We’re so happy! We’ve taken advantage of the time to hold two consecutive days of thank-you screenings. Many fans have watched it countless times since its release at the end of December last year, which is incredibly supportive. Some have even come from all over the world to support us, having to travel by plane and book hotels. It’s really not easy!”

“Looking at these fans, you can see that even after more than 20 years since the series ‘A Step into the Past’ aired, they still love and are deeply involved in this story, growing alongside it. This kind of support is truly invaluable.”

Louis also felt the audience’s enthusiasm, especially the parents who dressed their children up. He praised them, saying, “Although this 3-year-old Little King Qin may not know who Jessica Hsuan and I are, or who the King is, his parents are willing to put in this effort to support him, which makes me extremely happy.”

As for the audience’s particular fondness for the onscreen couple, Louis was asked if he would consider filming a spin-off about the two characters. To this he said, “Anything can happen in this world, maybe I can consider it!”

Jessica Hsuan has recently opened up on the reason why she left TVB in the past, and no, it was not your usual “broadening one’s horizon” excuse.

In a recent interview with Stephen Chan, Jessica had a simple and direct answer when asked about her decision that she made in 2012, saying, “I just felt uncomfortable with the way the whole operation was running.”

The actress explained that she had always believed that as long as you had the ability, you would naturally be appreciated and be given opportunities. However, the real world isn’t always like that.

She emphasised that she is a person who clearly separates public and private matters, but that it became harder to adapt when the work environment forced her to please certain people.

“It turns out that you might have to please people you don’t want to please. I asked myself, can I do it? No,” she said. “I left TVB because there were many changes internally at that time. Many people left, and some new people came in. The previous group of people were very compatible, but when they became incompatible, many problems arose.”

Jessica said that she is the kind of person who relies heavily on her feelings when doing things, and would leave if she feels unhappy.

Although fans want them to become a couple, Jessica Hsuan recently admitted that she and Louis Koo are more like brothers instead of lovers.

In a recent interview with Stephen Chan, the actress was asked about the nature of her relationship with her “Back to the Past” co-star, to which she said, “We’ve known each other for over thirty years. I met him while filming ‘Happy Family,’ but I really don’t have any feelings for him. We’re more like brothers.”

Asked why “brother” instead of “little sister,” Jessica laughed and said, “I think I have a more boyish personality, and he doesn’t treat me like a woman. He doesn’t take good care of me.”

She described Louis Koo as a man of his word who also understands her very well.

“He will definitely help me if I need anything,” she added.

Good news to all Hong Siu Lung fans. It looks like the VIPPU Inspector-turned-Warring States warrior is coming to Malaysia soon!

Louis Koo is set to return to Kuala Lumpur alongside his “Back to the Past” co-stars Raymond Lam, Jessica Hsuan and Kevin Chu, where they will hold a public fan meeting at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 23 January to interact closely with Malaysian fans and thank them for their support.

“Back to the Past”, a continuation of the hit TVB series, “A Step into the Past,” is currently showing in theatres across Malaysia.

As of yesterday, the film’s cumulative box office in Malaysia has surpassed RM 10.2 million, which prompted the team to come to the country to express their gratitude. It is also noted that the movie broke the RM 10 million mark in just 11 days, becoming the fastest Hong Kong film to reach 10 million in box office revenue in nearly six years since 2020.

Jessica Hsuan has laughed off recent rumours that she is now dating anew.

The actress, who attended the promotional event of her new movie, “Back to the Past,” seemed embarrassed when asked about the romance rumours, which sparked after she shared a photo of her hand holding another person’s hand on social media.

When co-stars Sonija Kwok and Joyce Tang congratulated her, she responded, “It was just a photo of me holding hands with my female friend. Don’t scare away all the men!”

She then added that she is single and that she welcomes any suitor.

On the other hand, when asked if there will be a sequel to the upcoming film, which itself is a sequel to the hit 2001 drama, “A Step into the Past,” the actress said that it will depend on the box office.

“If there is a sequel, we could add more female characters. Louis Koo has me and Sonija Kwok by his side in the film, and he could marry Joyce Tang, making the family relationships even more lively,” she joked.

“Back to the Past”, the movie sequel to TVB’s classic 2001 drama series, “A Step into the Past”, is finally set for release after years of delay.

The movie, which had earned a reputation as an “urban legend” after being in post-production for such a long time, will finally be on the big screen on 31 December.

The movie reunites the full original cast, including Louis Koo as Hong Siu Lung, Raymond Lam as Ying Ching, Jessica Hsuan as Wu Ting Fong, Sonija Kwok as Kam Chin, and Joyce Tang as Sin Yau.

Set years after the events of the drama, the story follows Hong Siu Lung, who has retired to a quiet rural life. But his unresolved fate with Chiu Poon, who has now become the feared Qin ruler, plunges him once again into a dangerous power struggle.

In order to protect his family and loved ones, Hong must return to the turbulent world of Qin politics, confronting destiny, loyalty and betrayal.

The film also introduces new roles, including Hong Siu Lung’s now-grown son Hong Bou Yi, played by Kevin Chu (Chu Kam-yin). The character, a child in the TV series, now returns as a courageous young warrior.

“Back to the Past” aims to reignite the nostalgia of long-time fans while at the same time expand the time-travel saga for a new generation.

Following previous rumour, it was confirmed that Jessica Hsuan has been cast to replace Maggie Cheung Ho Yee in the upcoming TVB drama, “The Queen of Castle” (previously reported with the title “Behind the Tower”).

Jessica recently made her first appearance in public at the press conference of the said drama, which was held in Foshan on 12 June, alongside other co-stars including Ruco Chan, Kenneth Ma, Jinny Ng, Moon Lau and others.

Speaking to the media about Maggie’s departure, producer Chung Shu Kai stated that the reason why the actress was unable to proceed with the project was due to conflicting schedules.

“Since the script was slow in coming out, the entire production was postponed from the original date, which was supposed to be at the end of April. The European location was also moved from early August to mid-September, so Maggie could not make time for that,” he said.

It is noted that the drama has been dubbed the medical version of “The Queen of News”, the latter which is the hit 2023 series starring Charmaine Sheh.

It was reported that Maggie Cheung Ho Yee will not be a part of the new TVB drama, “Behind the Tower” after all.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actress, who was supposed to make her TVB comeback with the new drama dubbed as the medical version of “The Queen of News”, was rumoured to have been replaced by Jessica Hsuan.

Sources claimed that Maggie had to quit the role as the schedule would clash with another production.

Further fuelling the rumours were the fact that Maggie has already deleted her previous Weibo post which had prompted an offer from TVB in the first place.

Back in February, the actress wrote on Weibo that she hopes to one day play the role of a doctor. The post was then reposted by TVB producer Chung Shu Kai, seeming to confirm her participation in the new drama.

It is noted that the drama will also co-star Natalie Tong, Moon Lau, Moses Chan, Janice Ng, Cheung Wing Hong and Kenny Bee.

Louis Koo and Jessica Hsuan couldn’t help but laugh over rumours of their relationship that have been going on for many years.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the two stars, who have been good friends for over 30 years, recently attended a fan meeting, where they addressed allegations that they have already been married and have a child together.

“I have heard of unwarranted rumours online that Jessica and I are married and have children together. Not true,” said Louis.

Meanwhile, Jessica, who laughed upon hearing the rumour responded, “How wonderful do you think it is that I still have such a good figure after giving birth? I would like to, but that’s impossible.”

“She is like a big sister to me,” said Louis, to which the actress chimed in, “I am only two months older!”

It is noted that Louis and Jessica have collaborated in various projects since 1994, and went on to become good friends. Louis has only admitted to a relationship only once throughout his career, but that he and his girlfriend broke up in 2001.
