Jacqueline Wong recently opened up for the first time about the cheating scandal with Andy Hui that nearly destroyed her showbiz career back in 2019.

The actress-turned-singer, who was interviewed for a TV programme recently, shared that she actually knew beforehand that the scandal would erupt as there were rumours circling about her and Andy.

Jacqueline stated that it felt like waiting for a time bomb to explode and that she even thought about “disappearing” from this world prior to it being released in the media.

As to why she never responded or publicly apologised for the scandal before, the singer said that she was blocked by her old company from doing so.

“I remember very well on the first day that the incident happened, I asked the company whether I should publicly apologise, but they were worried that many people would ask questions and it would be hard for me. I really wanted to apologise immediately,” she said.

Jacqueline said that she even told friends one time that she wanted to go meet the reporters to apologise, but that her friends stopped her from doing so, worried that it would make matters worse.

However, despite how bad the criticism was online, the singer said that in real life, nobody treated her badly and that people who met her would even tell her to cheer up. The only thing she regretted was the negative effect the scandal had on her family.

After surprising many with news of her marriage, Jacqueline Wong recently shared more photos, this time for the traditional Chinese ceremony.

On 29 October, the actress-turned-singer shared a couple of photos of her wearing red and holding a bouquet with the word “double happiness” inlaid on it, one that include husband Lai Man Wang and their two beloved dogs.

She posted, “Thank you all for your blessings and making me feel full of love. Thank you to my family, friends, and everyone who help us keep our secrets.”

“Everything was smooth, weather was awesome, and my dogs behaved exceptionally well! Couldn’t have asked for more. Wishing everyone healthy and happy,” she added.

Last weekend, the former TVB artiste shared a couple of photos from her wedding held at The White Barn, Hong Kong, revealing that she and RubberBand drummer Lai Man Wang have tied the knot.

The two were first romantically linked after they were seen walking their dogs together in 2022. Prior to that, Jacqueline was dating TVB actor Kenneth Ma.

Jacqueline Wong surprised many by announcing that she has tied the knot with musician Lai Man Wang.

On 28 October, the actress posted two photos from the wedding, which was held at the wedding venue, The White Barn, with both she and Lai holding on to the leashes of their two dogs.

It is noted that both celebrities were first rumoured to be dating after they were spotted walking their dogs together.

The actress-turned-singer only captioned her post, “Just Married”.

In his speech, according to sources, Lai thanked Jacqueline for always being there to lend an ear and take care of him, while Jacqueline wished for good health and for everybody’s dreams to come true as well.

Prior to Lai, Jacqueline was dating TVB actor Kenneth Ma, before the relationship ended due to her scandal with married singer, Andy Hui.

While ex-girlfriend Jacqueline Wong has tied the knot with musician Lai Man Wang, Kenneth Ma is still waiting the days before he is officially married to fiancée, Roxanne Tong.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared in TVB City for TVB Programme Presentation 2024, shared that his wedding will be held at the end of the year, with the honeymoon scheduled for early 2024.

“But everybody should ask my wife. I’m embarrassed because she often tells me not to talk too much about it,” he said.

When mentioned that Jacqueline is now married, Kenneth said, “I wish her a long life and that they will grow old together happily.”

The actor also stated that life will not be much different after his marriage. Stating that he will continue to work as usual, Kenneth joked that filming dramas and having children will not conflict with each other.

Kenneth will be seen next in “The Queen of News” alongside Charmaine Sheh.

Jacqueline Wong has neither confirmed nor denied reports that she and Lai Man Wang will be tying the knot soon.

As reported on Mingpao, following news that the two have submitted their Notice of Intended Marriage, the actress-turned-singer responded to the media with a short message.

It read, “We both thank you for your blessings. I have nothing to add. Thank you.”

The response was echoed similarly by the RubberBand drummer, who wrote, “Thank you, everyone. I have no comment.”

As to rumours that they are also having a baby, he responded, “No more questions to answer.”

Meanwhile, Kenneth Ma, who dated Jacqueline prior to her 2019 scandal with Andy Hui, responded to the media by writing, “Congratulations to them.”

Rumours of romance between Jacqueline and Lai sparked in 2022, after the two were spotted walking their dogs together. While they denied the relationship at the time, Lai did, however, revealed that he and his non-showbiz girlfriend had already broken up.

Rumours are rife that Jacqueline Wong and Lai Man Wang have filed an application for marriage.

As reported on Oriental Daily, sources claimed that a Notice of Intended Marriage has been submitted to the registration office on 13 August, with Lai’s marital status revealed to be “divorced” and Jacqueline as “unmarried”.

Many speculated that Jacqueline might be trying to get married first before ex-boyfriend Kenneth Ma, who will be tying the knot with Roxanne Tong later this year.

It is noted that the RubberBand drummer has always been supportive of the actress following her previous cheating scandal, when she was caught behaving intimately with married singer Andy Hui. Her relationship with Kenneth ended soon after.

Both Jacqueline and Lai have yet to respond to the rumours.

It’s been four years since she was blasted for her relationship with married singer Andy Hui, and to Jacqueline Wong, she has become tougher in facing scrutiny since then.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress-turned-singer, who released her second single, “Sandbag” recently, admitted that she used to be very concerned about the criticisms that came her way, and didn’t know how to deal with them.

“But I am more relaxed now. Frankly speaking, no matter how ugly the words I have heard being said about me, it was a cause-and-effect thing, and I can only be myself. Some things cannot be controlled,” she said.

Jacqueline also revealed that it was during that tough period that she decided to adopt a dog, as she was afraid of communicating with other people due to the controversy.

“Whenever I walk the dog, I would chat with other dog owners. Slowly, I was able to move on and came out of the slump,” she said.

At the same time, the singer said that she decided to rise again after seeing how worried her family was of her.

It is noted that “Sandbag” is also co-produced by her boyfriend, RubberBand’s Lai Man Wang.

Kenneth Ma recently stated that he has nothing but well wishes for ex-girlfriend Jacqueline Wong, who recently makes her comeback as a singer.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who spoke to the media at the promotional event of his new drama, “Invisible Clan” alongside good friend Natalie Tong, stated that he knew that Jacqueline has released a new song recently, but that he has yet to listen to it.

When asked if he could send her his blessings, Kenneth responded, “Do your best, work hard, good luck. Everybody can do what they love. Like Sammi [Cheng] said, everybody has the right to start over. The most important thing is to be happy.”

Kenneth and Jacqueline started dating back in 2017 after working together in the period drama, “Deep in the Realm of Conscience”. However, the two broke up following the cheating scandal between Jacqueline and Sammi Cheng’s husband, Andy Hui in 2020.

The actor is now engaged to TVB actress Roxanne Tong, while Jacqueline is now revealed to be dating RubberBand drummer Lai Man Wang.

Sammi Cheng recently stated that she has no qualms with Jacqueline Wong’s decision to make her showbiz comeback, nearly four years since the previous scandal.

The Cantopop star, who was asked about Jacqueline’s upcoming single, “Crown Me” which she released on Valentine’s Day, confessed to have no knowledge about the comeback, but stressed that everybody should have the right to have a new start.

“No matter what they experienced, everybody should be given the opportunity for a fresh beginning,” she said.

It was back in 2019 that the former TVB actress was caught acting chummy in a taxi with Sammi’s husband Andy Hui. Both parties apologised soon after and decided to take a long hiatus from work, with Sammi deciding to give her husband a chance.

On the other hand, other celebrities also expressed support for Jacqueline’s comeback, including Lai Lok Yi and Wingto Lam, the former who said, “She has settled down for a while now, and I believe she has made this decision to come back after much deliberation. I think people should give her a chance.”

Jacqueline Wong has dismissed the notion that she intentionally announced the release of her song on the same day as ex-boyfriend Kenneth Ma’s birthday.

The actress, who shared the news of her Valentine’s Day release on 13 February, stated that there is no special reason as to why she announced the single on that particular day nor did she meant for it to be a Valentine’s Day release.

“I don’t celebrate Valentine’s Day. There is no special reason for it,” she added.

Jacqueline also stated that she is not worried whether the song’s release will make her a hot topic again, given that she went on hiatus following her scandal with married singer Andy Hui.

“I will face it with a calm heart,” she added.

For now, the teaser for the new song, “Crown Me” has already received more than 65,000 views, which Jacqueline said made her very happy.

It is noted that Jacqueline has always wanted to be a singer, and even performed several songs for TVB dramas, including “Come Home Love: Lo and Behold”.

The actress was set to have a great future with TVB back in 2019, what with her dramas doing well and her relationship with Kenneth Ma going strong. However, it all changed when a viral video taken inside a taxi showed the actress canoodling singer Andy Hui, who is married to Cantopop star Sammi Cheng.

Both Jacqueline and Andy had gone into hiatus since then, with the actress ending her contract with TVB in 2021 and finding new romance with RubberBand drummer, Lai Man Wang.
