Although he is technically, as he said it himself, “unemployed” now that his three-year tour is over, Jacky Cheung doesn’t see himself reuniting with the other Cantopop Heavenly Kings for a special show.

The singer, who is one of the four performers that received the moniker, said that he would prefer to have the Four Heavenly Kings to remain a beautiful memory in everyone’s heart.

“I always say that the Four Heavenly Kings is just an era. In fact, there is no such thing as the Four Heavenly Kings anymore. Everyone is developing and doing things separately,” he said.

Jacky also said that the title was only given to him, Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok and Leon Lai by the media at the time, not something that they created themselves.

“I would rather it remains a beautiful feeling and memory. We are not out of sight, everyone can see us, and we often come out. Leon Lai is about to have a concert, and Aaron Kwok just finished his concert, which means we are all working together, and everyone can see us,” he said.

After 324 shows across multiple countries, Jacky Cheung has finally concluded his “60+ Concert Tour”.

The singer, who finished his three-year world tour with the finale show in Hong Kong, joked with the audience at the show that he will be unemployed after the last concert.

“I have such complicated feelings. I want to cry but I don’t want to cry, I’m nervous but I’m not nervous. I don’t know how to describe it, but I won’t. I’m already in my twenties, why would I cry?” he said.

Jacky admitted that his feelings were very strange, but he understood that everything has an end.

He also thanked the concert staff and his accompanying band, as well as his family for supporting him throughout the three-year journey.

Many celebrities also showed up to support the event, including Kenny Bee, Eric Tsang, Harlem Yu, Stephy Tang, Candice Yu, Nick Cheung, Andrew Lau, Cecilia Yip, Chingmy Yau and Deborah Lee.

In a media interview, Jacky spoke about his feelings regarding the final show and admitted that he hadn’t specifically aimed to break the record for the most shows, but he was happy that it happened, especially at his age.

When it was mentioned that some fans wished him to sing until he is 100 and to continue breaking records, he responded, “Bowie Wu also sang until he was over 90, but it’s easier said than done. I will do my best. I really love singing and want to continue. Thank you everyone.”

If you want to see your favourite Hong Kong legends like Chow Yun Fat and Jacky Cheung in a variety show, boy you are mistaken, as Carina Lau revealed that they absolutely refused to do so.

The actress, who participated in the mainland variety show “Road Blossoms Season 2”, shared recently that the production team had asked her to invite Chow Yun Fat and Jacky Cheung to the show many times but that they declined it time and time again.

Carina admitted that despite her efforts to persuade them, their attitudes were very firm. She said that the reason is that they do not want to divert their energy from doing what they want to do, and they refuse to reduce artistic expression to variety entertainment.

It is noted that Jacky has declined to participate in “Singer” four times now, be it as a contestant or a judge.

He once humbly stated that although he is a singer, he has never systematically studied music and feels that he may not be professional enough as a mentor.

He explained, “I don’t participate because I am not skilled enough and I don’t understand it.”

As for Chow, the iconic star once said that an actor’s responsibility is to hone their acting skills and serve their craft, not to easily make money through variety shows.

Jacky Cheung’s camp recently denied reports that the singer had cancelled the second show of his concert in Dongguan halfway through his performance.

The singer, who finally held his “60+ Tour” show in the city following previous postponement, told fans on the second show of the two-day performance that he had a cold and was struggling to control his voice.

“You know I’ve been doing this for 40 years. To give a concert where I can’t 100 percent control it, I just can’t get over that…  How about this? I’ll keep singing, and if I can’t sing any more, you can just refund your tickets, okay?” he stated.

However, several news outlets misunderstood it as Jacky cancelling his concert midway, to which his agency has now denied happening.

They stated, “That evening, Jacky experienced difficulty controlling his voice due to a respiratory infection. Out of professional considerations and a sense of responsibility to the audience, after completing the first half of the performance, he frankly stated that he was unsure whether he could maintain a stable singing level in the second half, and that the second half’s repertoire was more difficult to sing. He suggested that the audience could choose to refund their tickets and end the performance that night.”

“The majority of the audience expressed understanding and support and did not accept the refund proposal. Jacky, therefore, solemnly pledged to perform until he could no longer. Ultimately, the second half of the performance was completed smoothly, and the overall performance remained above the expected level.”

Jacky Cheung has finally addressed the ongoing rumours about his supposed financial difficulties by telling fans that he just enjoys performing for the sake of performing.

The singer, who was performing in Guangzhou as part of his “60+” tour on 28 February, told his fans on stage that he has heard rumours that he owed a lot of money to someone, and said, “Let me say it again. I really owed no one money. Truly!”

Jacky humorously said that many friends asked him why he has done more than 1,000 concerts and whether that he didn’t have enough money.

“I want to clarify with everyone, I am the type who is stingy when it comes to financial management,” he said, meaning that he will never make any large investments that could also lead to huge financial risks.

Jacky also added humorously that he is usually quite frugal.

“I saw on the Internet before that some people saw the clothes I was wearing and said, ‘That clothes seems to be from 10 years ago.’ Well, many of the clothes I wear now are from more than 20 years ago. This means that the clothes from more than 20 years ago were of very good quality and I have maintained a good figure,” he said with a laugh.

As to why he kept holding many concerts, Jacky said that he does it for his own happiness and for his fans as well, as it made both him and them happy.

Jacky Cheung is setting another record, this time for being the first Chinese singer with the most concert performances.

The Cantopop Heavenly King recently completed the 218th concert of his “Jacky Cheung 60+ Tour” in Haikou on 23 February, making it his 1,000th concert in total.

As an important partner who has accompanied Jacky on his 40-year musical journey, the management of Universal Music Greater China especially went to the concert in Haikou and presented special gifts to witness and celebrate this historic moment together.

Since his first solo tour “Jacky Cheung 87 Concert” that began in Hong Kong Hung Hom in 1987, to the 10th tour in 2025, the total number of shows has reached an astounding 1,000.

The entire journey has spanned 38 years, with footprints across Asia, Europe, Oceania and the Americas, with more than 100 cities in more than 18 countries and regions, attracting tens of millions of audiences in person. It has not only created impressive achievements in the Chinese music scene, but also witnessed the achievements of Chinese pop music moving towards the world stage.

Jacky has already made several records in the past, from breaking the record for a single concert held by a Chinese singer in 1995 by holding 100 shows, setting a Guinness World record for “the largest number of audiences for a tour in 12 months” in 2010 for his “1/2 Century World Tour”, and having “A Classic Tour” in 2016 being the tour with the highest number of shows in a single tour by a Chinese singer with 233 shows.

Jacky Cheung has recently apologised to fans in China after what he deemed to be not the best vocal performance during his concert in Hangzhou.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the Hong Kong Cantopop King, who returned to his “60+ World Tour” after taking a break due to being infected with RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), found himself having a hard time belting out his songs due to the aftermath of his previous ailment.

Speaking to his fans at the concert on 21 July, he expressed, “I am very happy that I can finally make this far. But today, my voice is a little bad, which affects my concentration. I apologise to everyone.”

Jacky said that the issue with his vocals had made it hard for him to concentrate on other things including the dances.

He then bowed to the audiences to express his sorry and thanked everyone for always being there with him.

It is noted that his Taipei stop, which had to be cancelled because of the aforementioned virus earlier, will be postponed to March next year.
