Kenny Kwan is not at all affected by the fact that he is one of the many celebrity friends whose social media account was unfollowed by Hins Cheung.

The singer, who was asked about the controversy surrounding Hins’ mass unfollowing, said that, “For me, social media is just a platform; real relationships and the warmth between people are what matter most. I’ve contacted him privately, and I believe Hins Cheung has the wisdom to process his emotions. As a friend, we should give him more space.”

He admitted that he hadn’t received any prior notice of being unfollowed and didn’t understand why people were deliberately checking his personal account’s following list. He added that he hadn’t paid special attention and felt that online comments didn’t necessarily reflect reality. His greatest concern was support.

Hins previously attracted attention when he decided to unfollow thousands of friends including his EEG peers like Charlene Choi, Joey Yung, Ivana Wong and many more. Among those that are left include Carol Cheng, Harriet Yeung, MIRROR’s Edan Lui and Crowd Lu.

It was reported that the mass unfollowing occurred as Hins joined the Security Bureau’s “Positive Guidance” initiative.

Hins Cheung recently revealed that he will not be competing for any awards at the annual year-end music awards this year.

The singer, who made an appearance at the Hong Kong International Airport on 22 September for the opening ceremony of THE MONSTERS X Hong Kong International Airport, said that he wants to focus on making a great album and to release his music this year, and hence will forgo the awards.

When asked if this meant he was “giving up” on awards, he said, “I’ve said I don’t want to compete for awards. This way I can focus my energy on producing new songs and an album. This year is very important for my music, as there will be some new career developments.

“The song production will be on a grand scale; it’s a milestone in my life. Details will be announced later,” he said.

However, Hins said that he will be performing at a large concert in November this year with Cantopop queen, Sammi Cheng.

“Next month I will also be in seclusion. This is different from doing multiple shows. This is a one‑night only special. I’m very nervous about this ‘golden’ night and I want to do my best and cherish this dream opportunity,” he said.

Just like the rest of the world, Hins Cheung is also a fan of the Labubu, and was elated to get his own Zimomo Angel in Cloud signed by THE Kasing Lung himself.

Sharing a photo of him next to a Christmas tree decked with The Monsters series of dolls and the new addition, he wrote, “Special thanks to Mr. [Kasing Lung] for the autographed and authentic Angel. Achievement unlocked.”

“This little monster of your pen has brought joy and healing to many people in the world, thank you for your excellent work and the message you convey through it,” he added.

He also thanked HK”s Pop Mart for letting him get to know Labubu, Zimomo and other “friends”.

“I just want to say to you: Shut up and take my money!” he added with a laugh.

In the same post, Hins also admitted that he has gained a little bit of weight, going from 63kg to 65.8kg, adding that he will begin finding a coach to start on his fitness routine.

Now that she is a full-fledged EEG singer, Gin Lee stated that her goal right now is to cooperate with fellow labelmate, Hins Cheung.

As reported on Mingpao, the Malaysian singer, who recently released her third single with the company, stated that it has always been a dream of hers to cooperate with Hins, but was unable to do so due to them not being in the same record label before.

“But now we are part of the same company, but I yet to have that chance… I will continue to wait. If I have a chance, I will tell Hins in person,” she added.

When asked what type of music she would like to work on with the singer, Gin said that she would love for them to record a love song.

“There have been fewer male and female duets in recent years and I hope that we can produce a song that can become a classic like Jacky Cheung and Francesca Kao’s “You Are the Most Precious”.

Hins Cheung recently revealed that he is soon to begin filming a comedy movie alongside good friend, Michael Ning.

According to On CC, the singer reportedly has bought the rights of remake to Chen Bolin’s comedy “Treat or Trick” with the full support of Emperor Motion Pictures, and will star as well as produce the movie.

Aside from him and Michael, the movie will also star Ivana Wong and EMP’s newcomer Suey Kwok Sze.

The original movie, released last year, stars Chen as a corrupt police officer who has to retrieve a stolen diamond within 48 hours, and traces it to a village filled with weird residents and also a female ghost.

This is not the first movie for the singer. Hins has already acted in movies like “Moments of Love” and “Love is Not All Around”.

At the moment, the singer will be busy completing his schedule first to make way for the upcoming movie.

Hins Cheung recently took to social media to share information on how to deal with anxiety and trauma following the incident that had befallen several dancers at the recently held MIRROR concert.

As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who urged those who were affected to contact the Red Cross Psychological Hotline and even provided the number, said that the dancers are members of the show business, many who have also worked with him in his performances.

Reportedly, the singer as well as MIRROR member Ian hired an expert consultant team to provide psychological counselling and support for the dancers.

“Caring for each other should be without distinction. It’s all about doing it together. While the other members of MIRROR are dealing with their own emotional situation, we will put the situation of the injured and the other dancers as priority and hope we can help them as soon as possible,” he said.

Hins also expressed hope that the majority of music fans will do the same, that is to cheer for the wounded and to give them more support.

At least five people were injured, with three hospitalised in an incident that occurred during a performance of the Hong Kong boy band, MIRROR on 28 July, when one of the large video screens hanging above the stage crashed down, crushing one of the dancers.

The group has now cancelled the rest of the show.

Several celebrities had to undergo COVID-19 tests following news that an infected couple had visited Hins Cheung on 3 January while he was still holding his Hong Kong series of concerts at the Hong Kong Coliseum.

Dr Chuang Shuk Kwan, Head of the Communicable Disease Branch of the Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection, recently stated that those who had been to the concert the same night have been required to undergo mandatory testing, but are not required to be classified as close contacts for the time being.

Among the celebrities who performed at the event include C AllStar, STARS Academy performers like Gigi Yim and Archie Sin, as well as fellow celeb friends who attended the concert including Nancy Wu, Joel Chan, Elaine Yiu and Paisley Wu.

On the other hand, Nancy recently posted online that she is doing well, having gone to the hospital for a COVID test and was found negative for the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, TVB has also released a statement that Gigi and Archie have been tested negative. The two are set to perform at the Yan Chai Charity Show.

Hins and the crew involved in the concert have also been informed of the situation and asked to undergo similar tests.

Although this year marks his 20th year in showbiz, Hins Cheung stated that he would rather put his family first right now.

As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who appeared at the premiere of Benny Chan’s last movie, “Raging Fire”, stated that he owed his parents a lot after working non-stop for the past 20 years.

“I haven’t seen them for a long time due to the pandemic. Suddenly I feel like they’re getting old very quickly. There are also a lot of friends who have passed away in recent years, so it made me realise that the relationships with people are more important,” he said.

Hins added that while one needs to earn money to make ends meet, it is also important to spend time with one’s loved ones.

I really looked forward to it, but until I left, I didn’t succeed in taking even a sentence. They’re all a mystery,” he wrote.

Hins stated that the song they worked together -in Mandarin and Cantonese – is now available on major music platforms, and expressed hope that everybody will love it.
