Zhu Yilong has recently expressed his elation over being nominated at the Golden Rooster Awards.

The actor, who is nominated Best Actor for his performance in Chen Kaige’s “The Volunteers: The Battle of Life and Death,” said that he is honoured to play his role as Li Xiang, a political instructor of the 1st Battalion, 188th Regiment, 63rd Army of the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army in the Battle of Taiyuan.

“Whether it was ‘Lighting Up the Stars’ or Li Xiang, every nomination isn’t just a recognition of me personally, but also of the character and the entire production team. Being nominated again is already something that makes me both very happy and deeply honoured,” he said.

Saying that Li Xiang is a complex character who has both personal and national dimensions, Zhu admitted that the more serious the subject matter, the more cautious he becomes in portraying the role.

The movie, based on Lan Xiaolong’s novel “War and Sacrifice,” revolves around the Taiyuan battle in the fifth campaign of the Korean War.

After winning Best Actress at the Golden Rooster Awards, Teresa Li took to social media to express her gratitude for the recognition.

On 17 November, the actress, who won for her performance in “Viva La Vida”, posted several photos of her with her Golden Rooster trophy and wrote, “I cherish the time when I became Ling Min, and this trophy belongs to Ling Min. I am lucky to receive this honour for Ling Min, and she also helped me realise my childhood dream.”

Ling Min in this case is the character she played in the movie.

Thanking director Han Yan, her co-star Peng Yuchang, and the rest of the team, she expressed, “Because of your efforts, the story of Lu Tu and Ling Min were finally presented. Thank you to the organising committee for giving me this honour and encouragement, and thank you to the audience for their support. Actor Li Gengxi will continue to work hard to play every role well.”

Teresa became the youngest actress to win the said award at 24, besting contenders such as Zhang Zifeng, Ma Li, and veteran actress Ge Zhaomei.

In the drama, Teresa plays a young woman who decides to marry someone who will be able to donate a kidney to her, which led her to meeting a young man who has a brain disease.

2024 continues to be a great year for Zanilia Zhao, as it was revealed that she has now been nominated at the Golden Rooster Awards.

As reported on Sina, the 37th China Golden Rooster Awards announced the list of nominations on 27 October, revealing that the actress is being nominated in the category of Best Supporting Actress for the Zhang Yimou movie, “Article 20”.

This is the first time for Zanilia to be nominated at the said awards.

Following the announcement, Zanilia’s studio posted, “Zanilia Zhao successfully played the role of Hao Xiuping in ‘Article 20’ and was nominated for the Best Supporting Actress at the 37th China Film Golden Rooster Awards. Salute to all the support that has been given.”

It is noted that the actress has already won Best Supporting Actress for the said movie at the Hundred Flowers Awards.

This year alone, she has won Best Actress in a Leading Role for the series “Wild Bloom” at the Golden Eagle Awards and the Feitian Television Awards, as well as the Next Generation Award at the Asian Film Awards.

Tony Leung Chiu Wai has been named Best Actor at the Golden Rooster Awards, enabling him to achieve the movie Grand Slam – as the actor to have won Best Actor at the Hong Kong Film Awards, the Golden Horse Awards and the Golden Rooster Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the Hong Kong star bested other contenders including “Papa” star Huang Bo and “Journey to the West” actor Haoyu Yang to win the accolade at the event held in Xiamen on 4 November.

In his speech, Tony, who won for his performance in “Hidden Blade”, dedicated his win to the cast and crew.

Speaking to the media after his victory, Tony stated that he enjoys being an actor and that the job has enriched his life.

“An ordinary person doesn’t have the chance to experience so many kinds of lives. I also learned a lot of new things with every character that I play,” he added.

It is noted that Tony has won multiple Best Actor awards in Hong Kong and Taiwan for movies like “Chungking Express”, “Happy Together”, “Lust, Caution” and “In the Mood for Love”. However, this is the first nomination and win for him at the Golden Rooster Awards.

Zhu Yilong is not at all affected by the fact that he was not nominated for the Golden Rooster Awards’ Best Actor category.

The actor, who won praises left and right for his performance in “Only The River Flows”, did not make it into the top five of the category, which has Tony Leung and Huang Bo competing via their movie, “Hidden Blade” and “Study Dad”.

When asked about it recently, the actor responded, “I think there are actually different judges every year. For all the movies in the entire market, there are different aesthetics and different judging standards, so I think it doesn’t matter. If you can get recognition from awards when making a movie, you will be very happy, but if you don’t get recognition, you will work harder.”

The other actors competing in the category are Sony Yang (“Back to Tibet”), Hui Wangjun (“The Rattle-Dong-Dong”), and Yang Haoyu in “Journey to the West”.

It is noted that Zhu won Best Actor at the awards last year for his performance as Mo Sanmei in “Lighting Up The Stars”.

During his speech, he expressed his confusion over winning the accolade, saying that he didn’t expect to win at all.

Kara Hui has been nominated Best Actress at the Golden Rooster Awards for her performance in “Love Never Ends”.

The actress, who plays the role of Li Huiru in the Yan Han movie, will be competing against the likes of Yan Ni (“Heart’s Motive”), He Saifei (“Chasing the Moon”), Yin Tao (“Home Coming”), and Huang Yao (“The Shadowless Tower”).

Following the news, the Hong Kong veteran took to Weibo to express her elation, writing, “I once saw a movie review on the Internet that moved me very much. It read, “In “Love Never Ends”, Kara Hui knew very well that this time she was playing a speck of dust, so unlike before, she restrained all her sharp edges and quietly attached the speck of dust to every screen.”

Louise Wong recently expressed elation over being the only Hong Kong actress nominated at the upcoming 35th Golden Rooster Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, the model-actress, who is nominated for her portrayal of Anita Mui in the biopic, “Anita”, shared that she is still happy about the nomination despite not being able to attend the event in mainland China due to strict COVID-10 measures.

“But I really didn’t expect that I could be nominated. I am very happy. I will continue to work hard on behalf of Hong Kong,” she said.

Louise said that being nominated is good enough for her, as it encourages her to do better.

When asked if her multiple award nominations enabled her to raise her fee, she said, “It does go up a bit. I would like to thank the major brands for their support. I really am grateful. The most important thing is to have a happy cooperation.”

Louise is set to compete with mainland stars like Xi Meijuan (“Song of Spring”) and Ni Ni (“Yanagawa”) at the upcoming awards, to be held this month.
