Buddha Beat, Coming Up Roses part of ASEAN Music Showcase Festival lineup

Debuting online this month is the inaugural ASEAN Music Showcase (AMS)
Festival, featuring artistes from five Southeast Asian countries.

Here are the details for the virtual music showcase:
Dates: 19 & 20 September (Saturday & Sunday)
Time: 1pm onwards

A total of 20 artistes, four each from the five participating countries, will
be performing. The performances will be streamed live online for music fans
from across the globe to enjoy.

So far only an image of the Indonesian lineup has been shared on
ASEAN Music Showcase Festival’s Facebook.

The lineup is handpicked by the festival’s founding members: Singapore’s
SGMUSO; Thailand’s Bangkok Music City co-founded by Fungjai Co., Ltd. and
NYLON Thailand; Malaysia’s City ROARS! Festival; Indonesia’s SRM; and the
Philippines’ The Rest Is Noise PH.

Also part of the inaugural AMS is a private virtual meet with not only some of
the biggest and most promising music business professionals in the world, but
also up-and-coming and established artistes in Asia.

“Tomorrowland Around the World” reveals full lineup

It was announced earlier this month that Tomorrowland will be hosting its digital music festival “Tomorrowland Around the World” next month.

The festival will be held in lieu of the annual physical edition that has to be postponed this year due to the global pandemic.

The lineup has now been revealed, featuring more than 60 of the world’s best DJs! The full line-up per stage can be found on tomorrowland.com.

Here’s the full lineup for “Tomorrowland Around the World”.

Each of the eight stages will premiere brand new music and video content from the world’s best artists.

The Mainstage, which embodies the theme of 2020 ‘The Reflection of Love – Chapter 1’, will be graced by the biggest industry heavyweights as Afrojack, Alan Walker, Armin van Buuren, David Guetta, Martin Garrix, Steve Aoki, and Tiësto.

The Atmosphere stage will be headlined by the likes of techno legends Amelie Lens, Dixon, Joyhauser, Reinier Zonneveld, Stephan Bodzin and Tale of Us.

Several other house & techno music tastemakers including ANNA, Adam Beyer and Patrice Baumel will deliver the most mesmerising and atmospheric sounds at the mythical Core stage – a crowd favourite and definitely one of the most unique stages at Tomorrowland.

Tomorrowland’s iconic Freedom Stage will see Claptone, Jack Back and Solardo return, with hardstyle acts like Coone, Da Tweekaz and Wildstylez on the Q-Dance stage. Some of the world’s best artists in future bass, dubstep and trap music – Carnage, Eptic, Gryffin, Netsky, NGHTMRE, San Holo and Yellow Claw – will gather at one of the brand new stages.

Armin van Buuren said in a press statement, “Tomorrowland Around the World is a great opportunity for me to connect with my fans during these lockdown times and I hope that this will help everyone to hold on for a bit longer until we can party together on actual festival grounds again! Very delighted to be part of this ground-breaking event.”

And here’s what Steve Aoki has to say: “Tomorrowland is always a special festival for me so I’m very honoured to be a part of Tomorrowland’s digital festival that will be uniting so many people from around the world in a way that hasn’t been done before. The connection between amazing music, breath-taking 3D design and the latest filming techniques from Hollywood get me extremely excited!”

If two of the world’s biggest DJs are these excited, you know Tomorrowland’s first ever digital festival is going to be worth the €12.50 (Day ticket) and €20 (weekend ticket inclusive of a week of video-on-demand content to relive the entire experience) price tags.

As mentioned, this year’s physical festival, which would’ve marked Tomorrowland’s 16th edition, has been postponed to summer 2021 (16 – 18 July & 23 – 25 July).

Taking its place this summer will of course be “Tomorrowland Around the World”, which will be available from 15h00–01h00 CEST on 25 and 26 July 2020 exclusively on tomorrowland.com. Tickets will be available on the same website from this 18 June.

Music festival Tomorrowland is going digital this July!

Have you always wanted to party the weekend away at Tomorrowland but felt burdened by the costs of travel and accommodation? Looks like this year might be your chance to attend it without these hassles.

Tomorrowland is all set to go digital this year with its first ever “Tomorrowland Around the World”!

The digital music festival is described as “a spectacular entertainment experience open to people of all ages and places, unfazed by borders or boundaries”.

Details on “Tomorrowland Around the World” are as below:

Dates: 25 and 26 July 2020

Time: 15h00–01h00 CEST

The festival, which will also have a ‘time-zone-friendly’ option for visitors from Asia and North or South America, will be available exclusively on tomorrowland.com for those two days.

Tickets can be purchased through the same website and will go on sale from this 18 June.

Prices for the tickets are as follows:

1. Day ticket: €12.50

2. Weekend ticket: €20 (includes a week of video-on-demand content to relive the entire experience)

Special People of Tomorrow packages and Home Party packages will also be available.

Eight different stages in total will be featured at the digital festival, brought together using the world’s best technology in 3D design, video production, gaming and special effects.

The stages comprise Atmosphere, Core, Freedom, Stage and Elixir, plus three new stages – each showcasing music from the world’s best artists in dance and electronic music, as well as a large portion of the fireworks and laser shows characteristic of Tomorrowland.

This year’s iconic Mainstage, which embodies the theme of 2020 ‘The Reflection of Love – Chapter 1’, will also be unveiled to the world during the digital festival.

Aside from the performances, visitors can also enjoy various interactive experiences, such as inspirational webinars, games and workshops related to lifestyle, food, fashion and the Tomorrowland Foundation.

“For us it’s a bit re-inventing the festival experience, but we truly believe that we can bring the spirit of Tomorrowland and entertainment at the highest level to people and homes around the globe,” said Michiel Beers, co-founder of Tomorrowland, in a press statement.

“We hope that hundreds of thousands of people will unite in a responsible way and that small Tomorrowland gatherings at people’s homes – from Canada to Australia, from Japan to Brazil and everywhere in between – will be organised. Especially during the weekend where normally Tomorrowland Belgium would take place, we really have the power to unite the world,” he added.

Tomorrowland has been held annually in Belgium since 2005 but its 16th edition, originally scheduled for next month, had to be postponed to summer 2021 (16 – 18 July & 23 – 25 July) due to the worldwide coronavirus outbreak.

Shila Amzah, Josh Kua and Alena Murang to hold digital concerts

Kicking off tonight is the digital concert series featuring three Malaysian artistes: singers Shila Amzah and Alena Murang, as well as violinist Josh Kua.

“Music has the ability to shift moods, ignite hope and bring people together,” said Joanne Kua, Chief Executive Office of KSK Group and Managing Director of KSK Land in a press statement.

“In this digital version of the ‘Kempinski Concertini,’ we are excited to join a talented roster of local musicians to share the soothing power of music as we continue to adjust to life under self-quarantine.”

Sarawakian musician Alena Murang, who sings, dances and plays the sape (a traditional lute instrument), will be the first to perform this evening as part of the three-part Instagram Live series, “Kempinski Concertini: A Digital Concert Series by 8 Conlay”.

Alena’s 30-minute performance will be live-streamed on 8 Conlay’s Instagram page at 8pm.

The following performance will be on 24 April (Friday) by KL-based violinist Josh Kua. It will also be live-streamed at 8pm on the same Instagram page.

Last but not least, KL-born singer Shila Amzah, who is well known for her ability to sing in Malay, English and Chinese, will wrap up the concert series on 3 May (Sunday), also at 8pm.

The digital concert series by 8 Conlay, the future home to the first and only Kempinski Hotel in Malaysia, was inspired by the hotelier’s “Kempinski Concertini”, which was a global initiative launched in 2017 as a way to promote local music culture. It also provides a platform to young musicians to present themselves to an international audience around the world.

Malaysian rock band Hujan releases full albums on digital platforms

One way for fans of Malaysian rock band Hujan to stave off their boredom at home is by blasting the band’s music all day long!

“We miss performing in front of you guys but in the meantime, do enjoy our latest additions via digital platforms from the comfort of your home,” the band recently posted on their Instagram.

The post was to announce the release of their 2018 album “Suria” and 2020 album “Pelangi Dan Kau” on various digital platforms such as Joox, YouTube Music and Spotify.

So now their fans – or Raingers, as the band affectionately calls them – can enjoy their songs anytime, anywhere. Anywhere at home, that is. They also reminded their fans: “Let’s stay home and do our part to fight this Corona Virus.”

Hujan posted this on Instagram announcing their albums’ release on digital platforms.

Currently, Malaysians are on week 3 of the Movement Control Order (MCO) enforced by the local government since 18 March to stop the spread of COVID-19. Originally set for two weeks, it was later extended to this 14 April.

The MCO requires everyone in the country to stay at home (though this doesn’t apply to essential workers and front-liners, obviously), except for infrequent trips to the outside world to replenish grocery stock or for medical needs.

As it also prohibits large gatherings, a couple of shows that Hujan was supposed to perform at, such as “Let’s Rock Cancer Malaysia Concert x UUM” and “Riot Fest 2020”, have also been postponed until further notice.
