Coldplay recently announced that they will be releasing a new album soon.

Sharing the good news on social media on 17 June, the band posted a video in which they thanked their crowd in Budapest for letting them play their new single, “feelslikeimfallinginlove” during their concert, and revealed that the single will be released on 21 June.

At the same time, they announced, “Moon Music. The new album, landing October 4. Limited signed editions available. Pre-order at store.coldplay.com.”

The album will have 11 new tracks, produced by collaborator and Swedish hitmaker Max Martin. As the band is known for their continued sustainability efforts, Coldplay’s new album is also made from 100 percent recycled plastic bottles.

It is noted that the band released their last album, “Music of the Spheres” in 2021.

While there are calls from several politicians to cancel the upcoming November Coldplay concert in Malaysia, saying that it only nurtures the culture of hedonism and perversion, the band’s frontman Chris Martin has gracefully welcomed everybody to their show.

In a short interview with HITZ FM, the British singer stated that he always felt that Malaysians are a loving and warm group of people.

He continued, “We are so grateful and happy to becoming to KL. It’s somewhere that we loved and respected from the distance for so long. “Everybody is welcome to our show. We love all people, all kinds of people, all religions. All leaders, all followers – nobody is excluded. We really want you to come to our show and feel free to be yourself and feel free to let everybody be themselves.”

“Anyone who is not happy we are coming, we’re sorry, but we love you too,” he added.

In the same interview, Chris Martin stated that the underlying message of their album, “Music of the Spheres” is that one should not be afraid of “difference or others”.

“For me, it’s a real opening of my imagination and also opening up of my acceptance of other people and creatures,” he added.

Iman Tang has recently started a petition for a Coldplay second show, after failing to secure tickets for the band’s upcoming 22 November concert in Malaysia.

The entrepreneur posted the link to the petition on his Instagram Story, stating that over 70,000 people queued for the tickets but that it was sold out within an hour (it was actually sold out in three hours time).

“We need a second night concert! Do you want a second night? If YES, please do help to sign up the petition and send to Chris & mates…” he posted.

As of now, the petition has already gathered nearly 10,000 signatures.

Many fans also took to Live Nation Malaysia, the organiser of the event to plead for a second show, saying that Coldplay did the same in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

Meanwhile, ticket scalpers are beginning to show up, with the highest resell price at RM43,000. The steep pricing had fans turning to Minister of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia, Fahmi Fadzil to report the situation.

Said Fahmi, the ticket prices come under the purview of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Costs of Living, and that he would take the complaint to its minister, Salahuddin Ayub.

Coldplay is set to perform in Malaysia this coming November.

The British band announced the good news recently, revealing that they are returning to Asia and Australia with a special run of stadium shows in the month of November as part of their “Music of the Spheres” world tour.

“Live Nation Malaysia is thrilled that music fans will get to experience this highly anticipated live concert for the first time in Malaysia,” said Para R., Managing Director, Live Nation Malaysia.

The upcoming concert in Malaysia will be held at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil on 22 November, with tickets to go on sale beginning 17 May.

Aside from Kuala Lumpur, the band will also be performing in Tokyo on 6 to 7 November, Kaohsiung, Taiwan on the 11th, Jakarta, Indonesia on the 15th, as well as Perth, Australia on the 18th.

The British band, consisting of Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion, recently collaborated with non-profit organisation The Ocean Cleanup to sponsor the river-cleaning watercraft vessel Interceptor 005 – and Malaysia is the first country to receive its service.

In a statement to the media, Coldplay expressed, “Without action, there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans by 2050, which is why The Ocean Cleanup’s work is so vital. We’re proud to sponsor Interceptor 005 – aka Neon Moon 1 – which will catch thousands of tons of waste before it reaches the ocean.”

The band had actually revealed the partnership with The Ocean Cleanup as early as 25 March on Twitter, stating that The Ocean Cleanup plans to deploy these vessels in 1000 rivers globally to help reduce ocean plastic by 90 percent.

The Neon Moon 1 Interceptor is being locally built in Malaysia, in partnership with Finnish firm Konecranes at their MHE-Demag facility in Bukit Raja, Klang. The vessel is expected to catch up to 100 tonnes of rubbish daily, especially plastics.

This is not the first time that the country has received help to clean its waters. Back in August 2019, the Interceptor 002 was deployed to the Klang River.
