Sheila Majid has made history as the first Malaysian artiste to release all eight of her studio albums in vinyl format.

The launch is not only in conjunction with her upcoming “Sheila Majid 40 Years in Music” concert, which will be held on 8 November at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, but also a celebration of her four-decade-long career in the music industry.

According to Hermond Cheng, Senior Director of A&R and Artist Management at Universal Music Malaysia, the release comes in response to fans who have long requested Sheila’s albums in vinyl format.

“This is the first time a Malaysian artiste has all their albums available in vinyl format. We hope this special release brings back memories for fans who grew up with Sheila’s music,” he said.

However, only 300 box sets of Sheila’s complete vinyl collection will be made available, making it a highly exclusive collector’s item for loyal fans and vinyl enthusiasts alike.

The preorder has already started, with a special price of RM1,499. Meanwhile regular price is set at RM1,599 and will be released on 5 October.

The eight albums included in the set are “Dimensi Baru”, “Emosi”, “Warna”, “Legenda”, “Ratu”, “Ku Mohon”, “Cinta Kita”, and “Boneka”.

This exclusive vinyl set is expected to become a valuable keepsake not only for Sheila’s dedicated fans, but also for local music lovers and vinyl collectors in general.

The singer recently revealed in an interview with Harper’s Bazaar that her ninth album has to be the best that she can offer seeing that her fans have been waiting eight years for it.

“I cannot put up anything mediocre. After waiting eight years, you might as well just wait some more,” she said.

Rihanna admitted that every time she approached her next album, she realised that “it’s not matching” her growth.

“It’s not matching my evolution. I can’t do this. I can’t stand by this. I can’t perform this for a year on tour. After a while, I looked at it, and I was like, this much time away from music needs to count for the next thing everyone hears. It has to count. It has to matter. I have to show them the worth in the wait,” she said.

Teasing the ninth album further, Rihanna said that she is very optimistic about it, adding, “I’ve been in the studio the whole eight years. But it didn’t hit me. I was searching for it. I went through phases of what I wanted to do. ‘This kind of album, not that album.’ I know it’s not going to be anything that anybody expects.”

“And it’s not going to be commercial or radio digestible,” Rihanna added. “It’s going to be where my artistry deserves to be right now. I feel like I’ve finally cracked it, girl!”

It is noted that Rihanna’s last album was the 2016’s “Anti”. Since then, she has only released two new songs, “Lift Me Up” and “Born Again” for the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” soundtrack in 2022.

Beyoncé made history at this year’s Grammy Awards, finally clinching her first-ever Album of the Year award for “Cowboy Carter” while simultaneously announcing her highly anticipated tour for the same album.

The singer, who led with 11 nominations, emerged victorious over an impressive lineup of contenders including Charli XCX, Jacob Collier, Billie Eilish, Chappell Roan, Taylor Swift, André 3000, and Sabrina Carpenter.

The evening proved particularly triumphant for the singer, who also took home Best Country Album (after being previously snubbed at the Annual Country Music Association Awards) and Best Duo with Miley Cyrus for “II Most Wanted.”

Leon Markcus is now back with a music video for his track, “Inferno (FIREE!)”, and decided to burn it up with Hell as its core theme.

The singer revealed that the theme for the new song’s MV, which “celebrates loving yourself despite not feeling loved at all,” is loosely based on “Dante Inferno”, a poet’s journey into Hell. Similarly, throughout the entire music video, Markcus appears in different settings referencing the various levels of hell – Gluttony, Greed, Limbo, Heresy, Pride, Wrath, Fraud.

Themes of various Hells like Diyu and Hades also inspired the look of the music video, and at the same time the singer aims to bring about a more masculine edge visually unlike his previous works.

“Inferno (FIREE!)” can be described as a hard-hitting electropop track with some hip-hop influence. The track was designed to challenge and push the limits of what Markcus thinks he could do as a vocalist. Lyrics wise, he wanted to capture the essence of his hurt through harsh honesty reminiscent of his first record but with a little more edge.

Markcus also credits his arrangement ideas to Alternative Pop Acts, Korean Pop and JPop, such as Ateez, Marina as well as Fo’xTails. Additionally, the TV series “Hawkeye” and anime “Digimon” played a huge role in his choice of samples and patches.

‘Revelation’ will be serving as the mini record promotional track which will be available on music platforms from 10 June 2022. Revelation is a song taken from a page of Markcus’ daily logbook, where he documents his “low” days – a page from 2021, where he talks about the hurt and betrayal of those he loves, the difficulties in taking responsibility and holding those whom he loves accountable.

The record, ‘Genesis’ and focus track – Inferno (FIREE!!) will be made available on all music platforms, Spotify, Apple Music and Kkbox from 24th of June 2022.

“Search & Awie Apologia Jamming Edition CD” will feature jamming or rehearsal versions of four of the songs that will be part of the concert’s setlist.
