The production team of new drama “Endless Summer” has recently come to Meng Ziyi’s defence, after she was accused of not taking her job seriously while filming the drama.
The whole issue started after several clips from the set circulated online, showing Meng laughing multiple times during filming. Some sources even claimed that the scene required more than 10 retakes and that filming continued late into the night.
Many who saw the clips accused Meng of being unprofessional, and even compared her to the male lead, Ding Yuxi, who they said would nail a scene in one take.
In response to the backlash, the team released a statement denying the supposed unprofessionalism on Meng’s part, stating that the video clip circulating online was simply footage taken after the director yelled “Cut!” to officially end filming the scene, showing the actress in her natural state after a long day of intense shooting.
“There was no evidence of her laughing during filming, making a mistake, or being unfocused. Therefore, any claims about actress Meng Ziyi laughing during filming and making mistakes are distortions and fabrications based on fragmented behind-the-scenes footage,” it added.
The team also stressed that Meng has consistently maintained a rigorous and professional creative attitude, dedicating herself fully to character development and filming.
Meng’s team later reposted the statement, and added, “Regarding the recent malicious rumours, slander, and distortion of facts by some internet users, we resolutely resist and will safeguard the artiste’s legitimate rights in accordance with the law, showing absolutely no leniency! We hope everyone will refrain from creating, believing, or spreading rumours, and focus more on the work itself.”
