Chen Li wants to move on from the sexual harassment allegations concerning a man named Ryan, said to be a friend of singer Faye Wong, who was filmed allegedly groping Chen Li at a music festival.
The whole issue sparked back in late August, when Ryan was seen hugging and allegedly groping the singer while they were enjoying the performance at the Aranya Xiami Music and Arts Festival. In the video, it looked like Chen Li was seen to be immediately pushing him away in protest.
However, the video quickly went viral, with hashtags such as “Ryan sexual harassment” and “Chen Li suspected of being sexually harassed” trending on social media.
After the video went viral, on 31 August, Chen Li responded on social media, saying, “Ryan is a friend of mine. We had a great time at the music festival that night, and everyone drank some alcohol. He apologised to me afterward. The footage from the event has led to a lot of over-interpretation.”
“I hope this matter ends here and doesn’t involve unrelated people. That’s all,” she added.
At the same time, Ryan has also apologised, saying that he drank too much at the music festival and did lose his composure.
“We’ve known each other for many years, but even if we’re close, we can’t cross the line. I’ve apologised to Chen Li and to everyone else for the trouble I’ve caused,” he added.
