After more than 40 years in the industry, Andy Lau recently revealed that he plans to become a director in 2028.
The Hong Kong superstar shared the good news during a recent brand event, saying that he will begin focusing on directing following his concert tour.
“I will definitely become a director in 2028, don’t worry. After I successfully complete my 2028 concert tour, I will devote myself to behind-the-scenes work and become a true film director,” he said.
“I’ve really thought about it for a long time. I should take a step forward. If I don’t do it now, people might really forget about me,” he added.
Andy revealed that as early as 1981, when he was 20 years old and enrolled in the 10th TVB Artist Training Class, he had already conceived the idea of becoming a director and screenwriter.
He admitted that over the past ten years, he had secretly written several scripts during breaks from filming and touring, accumulating a large number of well-developed stories, but he had never had the opportunity to direct them himself.
However, he stated that he would like to focus on making realistic stories instead of the crime-related films he has starred in.
