PSY’s global hit “Gangnam Style” has made K-pop history as it surpassed 6 billion views on YouTube.

On 20 July, PSY’s agency P Nation announced the good news, saying that the music video surpassed the milestone on the afternoon of 17 July.

This record was achieved 14 years after its release on July 15, 2012.

The music video added another 1 billion views two years and seven months after reaching 5 billion views in December 2023. It first received global attention in 2012 for combining its comical lyrics, the now-viral horse dance, and humorous visuals. It also features many famous Korean faces including Yoo Jae-suk, Noh Hong-chul and HyunA.
