Following previous reports of a drug investigation against Ryoko Yonekura, it was recently revealed that the actress’ case has now been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of violating Japan’s Narcotic Control Act, among others.
It was back in June last year that the Kanto-Shinetsu Regional Bureau of Health and Welfare’s Narcotics Control Department launched an internal investigation against the actress, following an information regarding Ryoko’s alleged drug use with her Argentinian acquaintance.
Subsequently, the authorities conducted a search and seized several items at her residence, which reportedly include drugs.
In December, amid rumours of an investigation, Ryoko released a statement admitting that her residence had been searched, adding, “I will continue to cooperate with the investigation.”
Meanwhile, her Argentinian acquaintance has already left Japan and may be unlikely to return. This, many speculated, may cause a significant problem to the investigation, especially when it comes to identifying items whether it belonged to Ryoko or the other person.
