Jay Park has released an apology following online criticism regarding his performance of his song, “Mommae” at a breast cancer awareness event.
On 16 October, the singer, who faced backlash over performing the song that has lyrics that praises women’s bodies like “But right now, I want to get introduced to your chest’s twins” in an event about breast cancer, took to Instagram Story to address the issue.
“The performance occurred during an after-party following the official campaign event, so I performed as usual,” he said. “I apologise if it caused discomfort to cancer patients.”
“Though I was injured, I performed with a good heart, without payment. Please don’t twist that good intention,” he added.
Jay was not the only party who was slammed for the performance. W Korea, which held the event called “Love Your W 2025”, was also criticised for holding a large-scale party while barely addressing breast cancer.
It was also blasted for interviewing celebrities attending about their personal lives instead of asking their thoughts about the disease or other health issues.
