Tony-winner Filipino singer-actress Lea Salonga has been officially selected as a member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame’s Class of 2026.
The news, which was announced by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce on 2 July, has the Broadway and West End darling being listed as one of the two people in the Live Theatre/Live Performance category alongside comedian Gabriel Iglesias.
The news was celebrated by many, including the Manila International Film Festival organisers, which admitted to have nominated Salonga.
They posted, “From Broadway to Disney to the global concert stage, Lea has been a trailblazer and a voice for generations. Her impact on the world of music, theater, and film is undeniable — and her legacy continues to open doors for countless Filipino and Asian artists worldwide.”
“This recognition is not just for her extraordinary talent, but for everything she represents: excellence, integrity, and cultural pride.”

Salonga later posted, “Just now woke up to this bit of amazing news!!! To the Manila International Filmfest, many thanks for nominating me to be part of the class of 2025-26!”
Salonga is the fourth Filipino to be given the honour, but the first woman from the Philippines of achieving the feat. Other Filipinos who have received stars include part-Filipino American comedian Rob Schneider and global music superstar Bruno Mars, whose mother is from the Philippines. Rapper Apl.de.Ap is also set to receive his star with fellow Black Eyed Peas bandmates.
Salonga became famous in the international musical theatre world after playing the lead as Kim in the original production of the musical, “Miss Saigon”. She had since starred in many productions including “Les Miserables” (playing Eponine), “Flower Drum Song” (playing Mei-Li), and “Once on This Island” (playing Erzulie).
