SNH48’s Wang Yi surprised many recently by announcing that she is not just abruptly leaving her agency Star48, but will be suing them soon.
The singer shared the news on social media on 5 May, saying that she had been under long-term physical and mental pressure since 2021 due to the death of a family member, high pressure at work, and unfair allocation of company resources.
Wang Yi stated that she couldn’t bear to leave despite all that she had experienced, that is until the middle of last year, when her condition deteriorated.
“The side effects of medication made my hands tremble constantly. More than once, I experienced hyperventilation backstage, leading to full-body numbness. Tinnitus and social anxiety followed me everywhere like shadows. Standing on the stage I once loved most, all that remained was a physical urge to vomit,” she explained.
Wang Yi stated that she tried to hide her negative emotions and suppressed the psychosomatic symptoms, but she is unable to do it anymore.
“That day, I finally understood: If I kept living in this kind of environment, the version of me who is vibrant only because of your love would eventually be worn down and destroyed by it all. And I don’t want to accept that ending.”
She later added in the comment section that it is not a temporary break but a termination of her contract.
“I will file a lawsuit next,” she added.
