Jet Li recently admitted that he regretted the time that he decided to look like your average muscleman and tried to bulk up.
The martial arts actor, who sat down for an interview recently, was asked why most martial artists do not have six-pack abs like their Western counterparts, to which he responded that they have very different physical constitutions.
“Some Western stars need injections and medicines to build their muscles. In addition, they grew up eating high-fat and high-calorie foods such as beef and butter, while Asians grew up eating potatoes, corn and flour-based food,” he said.
Jet admitted that he once tried to have a similar physique to Hollywood actors, and reduced his body fat to nearly zero in order to show off his muscles on camera.
“But as soon as I turned around, I passed out on set. Later, when a Chinese medicine doctor checked my pulse, he said that my vitality was severely damaged. So, I never dared do that again,” he said.
Jet then added that now that he is in his 60s, not only does he not have a six-pack ab, he also has a belly now.
