It was bittersweet for both Nicholas Tse and Donnie Yen, to know that their beloved director Benny Chan and movie “Raging Fire” both won at the recent Hong Kong Film Awards.

As reported on Mingpao, Donnie, who was unable to attend the event due to his busy schedule, said that seeing the result reminded him of the time he had working with Benny on the movie.

“It’s a mixed feeling. I’m just sad that he is no longer here to personally accept the honour that he truly deserves,” he expressed.

It is noted that Benny passed away in 2020, prior to the release of “Raging Fire”, after a year of battling cancer.

As for Nicholas, who also starred in the movie, the actor said that he is happy that the movie won four accolades including Best Picture and Best Director.

“But of course, it’s extra sentimental because Benny has already left us. But I believe that he would definitely know it up there in heaven. Thank you, Benny, for giving us so many great movies over the years.”
