Following news of the sudden passing of “Yu-Gi-Oh” creator Kazuki Takahashi, it was recently revealed that the manga artist had died by drowning.
According to medical examiners involved in the autopsy, the 60-year-old, who was found off the shore of Okinawa after a few days of search, passed away on 6 July.
Police suspect no foul play involved in the case.
It is noted that Kazuki was wearing snorkelling gear when found, though the Japan Coast Guard is still investigating the events leading up to his death.
Making his debut as a manga artist in the 1980s, Kazuki was known for various works like “Tokio no Taka” and “Tennenshoku Danji Buray”. But it was his 1996 manga, “Yu-Gi-Oh!” that became a huge success, selling over 40 million copies and spawning an anime television series and a trading card game.
