Jodi Sta. Maria recently admitted that she once thought that her current drama, “The Broken Marriage Vow” would be her last TV drama ever.
The actress, who spoke to the media about the said drama, shared that the role she plays as Dr. Jill Ilustre in the Filipino remake of BBC’s “Doctor Foster” was very challenging that it pushed her to the edge.
“That pushed me to my limits. And then I clearly remember after we all watched the three minutes video, at the launch of the trailer. Then we were all happy because we finally saw the glimpse of what we did. I told [Zanjoe Marudo] and director Andoy [Ranay], ‘This is my last project.’ I said after TBMV I don’t want to do it anymore. That’s what I told them before. This is the last one,” she said.
Jodi said the reason she made that decision at the time was due to the fact that she thought she had given the role her everything.
“I don’t know if I have anything else to give to the next project that I have given here. It hasn’t really been easy. I felt like I don’t have anything else to offer after this, so that’s the time,” she added.
However, thankfully, she changed her mind after wrapping up their lock-in taping in Baguio City.
“When I came out of the lock-in, I realised that I was so tired, I was physically and emotionally and mentally exhausted from playing the role of Dr. Jill Ilustre. Because I really don’t feel like it anymore. I feel like all my creative juices have been cut off. So, all I really needed was a break to recharge, to relax, to just calm down, like that,” she added.
