Jam Hsiao recently confirmed that he did not submit his nomination for the upcoming 33rd Golden Melody Awards.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer-songwriter set tongues wagging after fans noticed that he has zero nomination at the upcoming Taiwanese music event, despite releasing his album, “Quarantine Hotel Room 2827” last year.
In response, his label Warner Music Taiwan released a statement, saying that Jam has made the decision not to compete in a music awards.
“Jam Hsiao has expressed many times in recent years that he hopes his creations will not be affected by any purpose, and that he can make works to his heart’s content. Of course, if he can be loved by everyone, it is a bonus.”
“There are many outstanding newcomers, and he is willing to give the opportunity to more musicians. Therefore, before the release of the album last year, he reached a tacit agreement with the management company and the record label, and decided not to apply for awards,” the statement added.
Jam has already been nominated and won multiple accolades throughout his music career, including Best Male Vocalist at the 24th Golden Melody Awards.
The upcoming Golden Melody Awards will be held on 2 July.
