Selina Jen recently admitted that she was proud of herself to have gone through her journey as a survivor of a traumatic experience, more than ten years since she was hospitalised for third-degree burns from an explosion during the production of her series, “I Have a Date with Spring”.
As reported on Epoch Times, the Taiwanese singer recently spoke of her experience yet again at an event held by the Sunshine Social Welfare Foundation, saying that it took a long period of rehabilitation for her to finally recover from her injuries, which included skin-grafting procedures to help with the third-degree burns that covered more than 50 percent of her body.
However, she admitted that there are still repercussions from the said injuries, including the damage to her body’s heat dissipation ability – which sometimes made her feel hotter or colder faster than everybody else.
Selina shared her survivor story and encourage other fellow survivors not to give up |
“It’s like an early menopause,” she said with a laugh. “I needed to be really prepared when I go on a hike. Sometimes I would be sweating profusely while other people haven’t sweated yet. I am most worried about getting hypothermia, so I pay close attention to that part of myself.”
Despite it all, Selina encouraged those who went through similar hardships not to give up, stressing that their efforts will come to fruition.

“Rehabilitation for burns takes a really long time. It’s repetitive, and you will experience failure. It’s very frustrating. I used to describe it as being in jail. I was trapped in the scars of my whole body. But please trust me. Your hard work that you do every day will bear results. All you have to do is be patient,” she said.
