Neelofa and her family have been slapped with a total of RM60,000 in fines following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) breach and the celebrity entrepreneur’s previous violation of state-crossing rules.
The former “MeleTOP” host, who tied the knot with celebrity preacher Muhammad Haris Ismail (PU Riz) late last month, was issued RM20,000 fines for two offences – failing to adhere to the SOP requirements for social functions during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), and for misusing the permission to conduct business beyond the state borders for unrelated activities.
Similarly, Haris has been issued a RM10,000 compound with no discount.
On the other hand, 20 members of Neelofa’s family were fined RM1,500 each for failing to abide by the SOP at the wedding.
“The compounds will be issued to all those involved today, amounting to RM60,000. Therefore the police is advising the public to continue adhering to the CMCO. Failure to do so will result in legal action,” said Dang Wangi police chief ACP Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.
Neelofa sparked anger among netizens after photos of her family members seated closely to one another at her wedding went viral, and further fuelled the flame when she shared photos and videos of her and her husband enjoying their time in Langkawi doing watersports and riding cable cars despite stressing that they were in the island for business.
In related news, the former actress also announced that she is offering help to pay the RM50,000 fine issued to one burger seller in Kota Bharu, following backlash over the disproportionate fine the man in question received in comparison to her and her family.
In a series of Instagram Stories, Neelofa stated that her lawyer has already contacted the person in question to get details in order to help with the fine.
The said burger seller recently went viral after he was fined heftily for operating his stall outside his home past 10pm, sparking anger among politicians, industry bodies, and public alike for the unfair treatment against him in comparison to those who are influential and well to do like Neelofa herself.
