Conceptualised by actor and writer Dan Aykroyd, the original Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man, also known as Mr. Stay-Puft, first appeared in the original 1984 “Ghostbusters”. It was said to be inspired by Michelin’s Bibendum (also known as the “Michelin Man”), with Aykroyd saying that he created it to show that “it seems harmless and puffy and cute—but given the right circumstances, everything can be turned black and become evil.”
