The Malaysian “Godfather of Stand-up Comedy” Harith Iskander, is taking the stage via your screens in his very own Netflix comedy special show called, “I Told You So”.
In his distinctly Southeast Asian blend of humour style, Harith is set to tackle everything from family drama, awkward dating experiences, to social and cultural issues that a lot of Malaysians and Singaporeans encounter on a daily basis in his one-hour special.
“I’m delighted and honored to be the first comedian from Malaysia to be a part of Netflix’s original production, and bring Asian stand-ups to the global stage,” said Iskander.
Joining him for his very own show as well is Malaysian comedian a.k.a. ‘Malaysia’s grumpiest comedian’, Kavin Jay, in “Kavin Jay: Everybody Calm Down”!
Why grumpy you ask? Because the 38-year-old complains about everything so that you don’t have to!
“It feels like a dream, from watching my heroes on Netflix, to having my own special, right alongside the greats. Someone pinch me!” exclaimed Kavin whose show promises to be intense, politically incorrect and will showcase Kavin’s warped sense of love, life and liver.
“We are very excited to unveil the new Asian comedy specials to local fans, and even more excited to introduce top-notch local talent like Harith and Kavin to our audiences worldwide,” said Erika North, Head of International Originals – Asia, at Netflix in a press statement.
The two Malaysian comedy specials will premiere in all Netflix territories around the world on the following dates: Harith Iskander’s “I Told You So” on January 19 and Kavin Jay’s “Everybody Calm Down!” on February 2.
We can’t wait to finally see a Southeast Asian comedian on Netflix alongside popular international comedians like Russell Peters, Kevin Hart, Chris Tucker, who all have had comedy specials on the American headquartered global internet video streaming service, Netflix.
