Indonesia’s beauty queen Dea Goesti Rizkita has made her country proud by winning the Best National Costume at Miss Grand International beauty pageant which took place yesterday, 25 October 2017 at Phu Quoc, Vietnam.
Designed by Morphacio and Maya Ratih, her national costume – dubbed as “Motherland” – is inspired by Ibu Pertiwi (also means Mother Earth), the Hindu mother goddess of Earth who is also the national personification of Indonesia.
Her majestic costume has beaten 76 other contestants from all over the world including Malaysia, which was accused of stealing Indonesia’s culture with its Kuda Warisan costume.
Anyway, apart from Best National Costume, Dea also nabbed the Miss Popular Award thanks to her legion of fans and followers.
Though she failed to become the champion of the competition, she managed to become the Top 10 finalists of Miss Grand International 2017.
The titleholder of Miss Grand International 2017 is Miss Grand Peru Maria Jose Lora, who received the crown from Ariska Pertiwi from Indonesia, who had won the title last year.
Meanwhile, the first and second runner-ups go to Tulia Aleman Ferrer from Venezuela and Elizabeth Durado Clenci from Philippines, respectively.
