To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Malaysia-Japan diplomatic relations, Thai event organiser G-Yu Creative is bringing over various performers from Japan, including the viral icon behind the global sensation hit “PPAP”, Pikotaro over to Malaysia for Japan Expo Malaysia 2017!
“Get ready to dance! We are pleased to announce Japan Viral-Hit Pop Sensation that went worldwide, “Pen Pineapple Apple Pen” by PIKOTARO, will be performed at Japan Expo Malaysia 2017 for the first time ever in Malaysia!!,” Japan Expo Malaysia posted on their Facebook page.
Japan Expo Malaysia 2017 will be the first all-Japan event of the year, featuring modern and traditional Japanese performances, fashion, culture and food.
Pikotaro may be the main star of the event, but there are other known musical performers who will be gracing the Japan-themed festival, and they include legendary Japanese singer-actor Shigeru Matsuzaki, Maiko from King Cream Soda, known for singing the catchy theme of “Yo-kai Watch”, traditional instrumental band Ryoma Quartet, traditional dancer Naomichi Hanazono, member of girl group Spring Chu♡bit, Haruka Yamashita, and Japanese idol Kurosaki Reon.
Apart from the performances, guests can also enjoy a Harajuku-themed fashion show from iconic fashion designers from Thailand and Malaysia, and also cosplays of famous anime characters.
The event is free-of-charge and will take place from 28 to 30 July 2017 at Pavilion KL and Fahrenheit 88.
