KFC has finally found its first Filipino Colonel Sanders, and he is actor Ronaldo Valdez!
Last week, a video posted by KFC Philippines has been going viral on social media, showing veteran actors Ronaldo Valdez, Leo Martinez, and Pen Medina auditioning for the role KFC’s Colonel Sanders.
Though each of them is unique and funny in their own way, many have already guessed that the role would fall to Valdez due to his uncanny resemblance to the real Colonel Sanders.
The 69-year-old veteran actor whose film and television career spans five decades, took his oath as the colonel in the new commercial shared by KFC’s Facebook page.
Standing among hundreds of people holding fried chicken legs and chicken buckets, he recited, “I, the Colonel do solemnly swear to fulfill my duties to the best of my ability. I promise to uphold the fresh, hand-breaded quality in each piece of KFC original recipe chicken. Because in KFC, all parts are created equal.”
“I promise to protect the 11 secret herbs and spices that make my fried chicken unique in all the land. I pledge to push the boundaries of fried chicken innovation and lead the way for this nation of fried chicken lovers. So help me gravy!” he exclaimed as the crowd cheers.
Leo Martinez and Pen Medina also appear in the video, watching Valdez take his oath on TV while eating fried chicken.
