Come and celebrate the wonderful delicacies of Penang as the inaugural Penang International Food Festival (PIFF) takes place from 15 to 30 April 2017 at three different locations in the state.
Set to be one of the premier food festivals in South-east Asia, the food festival will be showcasing the humble authenticity of its world-famous food.
“It will showcase Penang’s famous food and the festival will be held over three weekends,” said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng as quoted by The Malay Mail.
The RM1 million-festival stretches over 16 days with three different themes and various pocket events comprising workshops, tours, artisanal markets, meeting of experts and more.
The themes for the festival include “Savour the Past” which feature all the nostalgic hawker and street food from 1970s and will take place on 15 April at Beach Street.
Meanwhile, foodies can enjoy modern treats from hawkers and food trucks with “Enjoy the Present” theme on 22 April along Kelawei Road.
The food festival will end with the Fringe Food Festival, themed “Relish the Future”, at Gurney Paragon Mall from 28 to 30 April.
According to Penang Global Tourism general manager Ooi Chok Yan, there will also be a latte art championship, cocktail-making competition and cooking competition during that event.
Full line-up of the event will be revealed soon, stay tuned!
