Gaining weight is no issue for a character-actor like Francis Ng. It was putting on make-up and prosthetics in the heat of the summer that was the hardest.

As reported on Oriental Daily, the actor, who has to play a role from the age of 17 to 79 in his new movie, “Shed Skin Papa”, stated that he had to spend 14 long hours putting on and removing his make-up and prosthetics every day during the shoot.

“It was so hot, I was complaining all the time,” he said.

Francis also gained and lost weight in the span of the filming period, saying, “I gained 70 kg at first and had a belly to play a 79-year-old. But then I had to lose 20 pounds to play a younger version of the character. I had to undergo rigorous training, and remove sugar and salt from my diet.”

“It was so tough that I cried. I was dizzy, nauseous, and my body was sore all over,” he said.

When asked if he would turn down such a difficult project in the future, Francis shook his head and said that he still had fun filming the movie.

The upcoming movie, co-starring Louis Koo and Jessie Li, will be released in April.
