Malaysian footballer Faiz Subri is about to create history as he is now in the top three finalists of the FIFA 2016 Puskas Award for best goal of the year!
The Penangite is the first Malaysian and Asian to make it to the list and will soon be going up against Venezuela’s Daniuska Rodriguez and Brazil’s Marlone.
The 29-year-old winger gained worldwide attention after winning against Pahang in a league match with his extraordinary gravity-defying kick that has been compared to Brazilian Roberto Carlos’ 1997 free-kick.
The top three finalists for the Puskas Award 2016 was announced by FIFA last Friday.
A second round of voting for the top three finalists is now opened at fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/puskas-award.
The winner will be announced in Zurich, Switzerland on 9 January 2017.
