Action superstar Jackie Chan recently addressed the news about his upcoming award, saying that he is happy to be finally honoured by the Oscars.
As reported on Oriental Daily News, it was revealed that Jackie will be one of the four recipients of this year’s Governors Awards – an Academy Honorary Award that celebrates those who have made a lifetime achievement in the film industry.
The actor, who is receiving the award for being a pioneer of modern martial arts cinema, recently wrote his thank you message online, saying that he is in gratitude to the Oscars for giving him such an encouragement after 56 years in film, while he still has the fight in him.
“I want to share this honour with my brothers at the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, who have risked their lives with me for decades, all of my professional co-stars, and all the partners who have supported me,” he wrote.
Jackie also thanked his fans and promised to keep working hard to create more good movies for everybody.
He lightheartedly added, “I hope that the Oscars have no rule against winning other awards after the lifetime achievement award!”
