She had just arrived for a couple of days in Brazil to cover the Rio Olympics when Louisa Mak realised that the money that she left at her room in the Media Village had been stolen.
As reported on Epoch Times, the beauty queen stated that she lost a four-figure sum from her room when she returned after work, but that the incident has already been reported to the police.
However, Louisa stated that she is not worried about it since she has been carrying four fifth of the amount with her.
“I didn’t keep all the money in the luggage, so the thief was only able to get one fifth of the amount. My passport and other valuables are also with me all the time, so I didn’t lose anything [except the money],” she added.
Louisa also assured that she has already bought travel insurance that covers theft.
When asked about the burglary, TVB Sports Section Director Li Hon Chun stated that they’ve already been informed about this and that since it happened at the Media Village, the issue has been taken seriously by the Brazilian Olympic Committee.
This is not the first time that such an incident happened during the Rio Olympics. Previously, it was reported that cash was stolen from the Filipino media crew. Several athletes have also banned cleaners from entering their room for fear of more thieveries.
