He may not have competed in the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival, but Aaron Kwok can still celebrate his recent victory at another Berlin competition – the 1st Berlin Chinese Film Festival.

According to Mingpao news, the actor was recently awarded Best Actor for his role in the thriller “Port of Call” at the 1st Berlin Chinese Film Festival held at the Kino Babylon theatre in Berlin, Germany from 24 to 27 February.

Although Aaron was a no-show at the event due to filming in Shanghai, he was able to give a speech through video conference.
He said, “It is such an encouragement, and a proof that the effort and hard work that I gave was not gone to waste. I am happy to receive the recognition of the jury.”
Aaron also congratulated director Philip Yung, who won Best Director at the festival.
Although 40 movies have participated, “Port of Call” was the only Hong Kong film in competition at the grand film culture event.
