Hong Kong diva GEM Tang has been doing a lot of charity work recently, so it was an opportunity that she just had to cherish when the Singapore Coalition Against Bullying for Children and Youth (CABCY) invited her to join their anti-bullying event.
According to Mingpao News, the singer recently made a trip to Singapore in support of the campaign, and joined fans and other supporters in several activities, including painting a mask to express the feelings of being the victim of bullying.
GEM, who is also a victim of cyberbullying, stated, “The biggest challenge for me was to face so many different rumours every day. It made me sad and insecure.”
She continued, “But now I think it’s really important for us to know where our value lies. Then you can become more focused, honest and head towards a positive direction.”
GEM also believed that art helps to heal one’s soul as it can calm you down, frees you from outside influence and enables you to hear your own voice.
“Everybody needs a place to explore and express themselves. Facing the pain of the past may sound terrible, but everything that happened in the past will make you stronger,” she said.
