With the success of the 2013 Korean drama, “My Love from the Star”, comes the many overseas adaptations, including a mainland one to be aired by Anhui TV.
However, fans of the original might not be happy after hearing rumours that there is a chance that there will be a huge change in the storyline.
According to Mingpao News, although the original drama, starring Kim Soo-hyun and Jun Ji-hyun, tells the love story between an alien named Do Min-joon and an actress named Cheon Song-yi, the mainland version will have Do Min-joon as a novelist who wrote the entire story of the original drama.
In addition, the ending will also be changed and the 21-episode drama will be expanded into 30 shorter episodes, according to sources.
Netizens have already expressed their frustration over the changes supposedly made and has even expressed their unhappiness to the original Korean producer, HB Entertainment, about it.
However, the company stated that since it has already sold the copyright to the mainland station, they have no right to interfere with the storyline.
Meanwhile, an American remake is also under development at the family network, ABC, to be written by Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain of “Angel” and “Lie to Me” fame.
