Legendary artist, David Bowie has passed away at age 69, confirms his filmmaker son, Duncan Jones.
“Very sorry and sad to say it’s true. I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all”, wrote the “Warcraft” director on his Twitter.
Bowie had died after an 18-month battle with cancer.
The latest post on his Facebook page reads, “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.
His death comes as a surprise for many, as Bowie had released his 29th album called “Blackstar” just three days ago on 8 January 2016 to coincide with his 69th birthday.

Born David Jones in London on 8 Jan 1947, Bowie was not only a multi-talented artist who churned out hits like 1983’s “Let’s Dance”, “Heroes,” “Changes,” and “Under Pressure,” he also dabbled in acting with roles in Martin Scorsese’s “The Last Temptation of Christ” (1988), “Zoolander” (2001), and even Christopher Nolan’s “The Prestige” (2006) among others.
