After waiting for four years, Walt Disney’s latest theme park addition, Shanghai Disneyland Park finally has an official opening date – 16 June 2016!
Owned and operated through a joint venture between The Walt Disney Company and the Shanghai Shendi Group, the theme park will also be part of the Shanghai Disney Resort.
According to the Walt Disney Company official page, the new theme park will feature classic Disney storytelling and characters with all-new experiences tailored exclusively for the people of China.
“When it opens in June, Shanghai Disney resort will be a one-of-a-kind, world-class destination that is authentically Disney and distinctly Chinese,” said Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company.
“The resort reflects Disney’s legendary storytelling along with China’s rich culture, and showcases some of the most creative and innovative experiences we’ve ever created. We’re looking forward to showing it to the world and sharing it with the people of China for generations to come,” he added.
Some of the themed areas included in the park are; is an 11-acre collection of gardens called the Gardens of Imagination, Fantasyland which is the largest land in the park featuring the Enchanted Storybook Castle, the largest and tallest Disney castle featuring an underground boat ride, Treasure Cove, home of the “Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle of the Sunken Treasure” ride and more.
